I studied German for 4 years and visited Germany twice. I still hate speaking it because it sounds so damn goofy.
Thing about Deutsch is it's such an over the top dialect no matter the tone its spoken in. It's the Nicolas Cage of world languages essentially.

Chinese would be an absoulte fucking nightmare to write. I can't fathom how people can learn thousands of characters. I quit learning Japanese when we got to Kanji.

Chinese sounds really fake to me for some reason. I always swear the actor/actress must have a horrible accent and then I found out from people who actually speak the language that, no, they sound pretty accurate. So I guess that. Not sure if it's Mandarin or Cantonese, but they both usual sound really wrong to my ear when I hear.

I would have to say Chinese. The thing about German is that while it may sound harsh, there is some familiarity going for it. They put the Saxon in Anglo-Saxon, afterall and as much as 30 percent of our language is derrived from old German. Plus they have some cool words like blitzkrieg and zietgiest.
Chinese on the other hand is a total mystery. I feel like i have some familarity with thier culture, but they were never the extreme cultural exporters like the Japanese were. I feel like Japanese concepts like ninja, samurai, bonsai, sushi and karate are known by all, but how much do we know about Chinese culture outside of thier food , zodiac and Kung Fu movies?

I feel like Japanese concepts like ninja, samurai, bonsai, sushi and karate are known by all, but how much do we know about Chinese culture outside of thier food , zodiac and Kung Fu movies?

Spoken Mandarin sounds unappealing, but it does sound beautiful in songs tho. I'm biased towards all languages so my opinion shouldn't be taken into account anyway lol.
