based on in-universe shows from an IP? I know there was a pilot made for a Monsignor Martinez live action show but never saw production. I think it would be really interesting if something like this could have a successful run.

A spinoff from a shows show?

Not a show, but IIRC the Machete movie was born from a mock in-movie ad in another movie

Young Sheldon was a higher quality show than Big Bang Theory ever was. Also the Arrowverse all started with Arrow, but The Flash was a more direct spinoff and was very successful.

I'm not huge on Young Sheldon because of the title character, but I can agree. It didn't feel like the typical Chuck Lorre slop that he has made before and after it.

Oh, not a show, but Nichijou had an in-universe manga that they'd use for transitional cutaway gags and it was eventually made into a real manga.
The OP is like two sentences long and nobody read it apparently.

Anyway, no.

Yeah, I knew that would happen. But I don't think I could have put it all in the title.
Never watched that far into it, but doesnt digimon kinda do the opposite of this?

It probably doesn't help that it's kind of awkwardly worded.

Don't know how it could be any clearer. I spelled it out and gave an example of a pitched idea.

It roughly falls into the category. There aren't many examples that TC is looking for.

I like it rough
NCIS has to be one of the most popular given it's longevity.
I feel like I need to put something here, or else I am one of those weird people who think that having no signature is a character trait.
I guess you're looking for something like how Bojack Horseman had a spinoff Christmas Special from Horsin' Around, but if they actually made an entire season instead of a one off. I can't think of anything like that.
Gekiganger III has an OVA.

That's what got me wondering if it could be possible or has ever been done successfully. Would it help if we opened it up to all media? I feel like there have been silly one-off games based on in-universe media. But probably nothing that saw continued success.

Helvetica Standard is probably the only thing I can think of that comes close.
In an odd reverse of this, there's an episode of Emergency! where they watch Adam-12 on TV, which is especially odd because there was a crossover episode where the Rampart staff and Squad 51 appeared on Adam-12.

There was also an episode of Batman (1966) where they watch the Green Hornet on TV, and an episode of Green Hornet where they watch Batman, despite the fact that there was also a crossover between the two shows.

Closest I can come up with is Star Trek: Below Decks, adopting the name of a TNG episode.
