For instance if I were to visit Melbourne, Australia as a resident of Melbourne, Florida.
Anyone who doesn't agree is part of the problem.

i highly doubt there's another city with the same name because it's based on native american words

There is a Rochester in just about every state in the US, but I haven't been to any others.

I have been to both Rome, NY and Rome, Italy. Also, Charlotte NC and Charlotte NY, although they are pronounced differently.

NY also has a Greece and Mexico, but I haven't been to those countries.

There are multiple Native-derived place names that duplicate across multiple states, though.

Not ours, apparently! Googling the name of the creek just gives the name of the city (which is just the two Choctaw words mashed together)

I have not. There's a hamlet in Scotland, with a castle. There's also a place in Texas named Calgary, or Kalgary, but there's not much there from what I've read.
