Maybe something killed you in your dream and you just don't remember that part
Or you were worried that something bad was about to happen, and then you woke up maybe? I don't have night terrors, but that'll happen to me in my dreams that are otherwise happy till the final moment.
I know very little about night terrors however, so take this all with a grain of salt. It's speculation that isn't based off of much. I would however recommend trying to find someone that does understand them and ask them if you can.
I have work up from a good dream feeling sad because I wish said dream was real. That was many moons ago and my dreams for years now have never been good.
Nightmares and night-terrors are actually different things. Nightmares occur in REM sleep and night-terrors occuring during non-REM sleep or between sleep cycles. You don't sleepwalk during the stages of sleep where you dream. It's the night-terrors where you randomly cry, scream, and thrash in your sleep without remembering it. You don't dream during a night-terror, you just go apeshit a little bit.
You only remember the periods of sleep where you dream. That's why dreams seem to jump topic; because they are actually multiple dreams separated by periods of sleep that ate impossible remember. If you were having a good dream but woke up suddenly in a panic, you probably had that dream a while ago and it was during the bout of non-dreaming sleep that something happened to wake you up. It just creates the illusion that you woke up directly from a dream.
Could have been as simple as the ice-maker in your fridge making a noise and startling you awake.
I always move in my sleep. Doesn't mean I'm scared of something. You do lots of weird stuff in your sleep. People move, vocalize, orgasm even, and some stages of sleep are associated with hallucinations. But there's a difference between moving in your sleep and actual sleepwalking, which is a parasomnia.
