Judging by the ear tag, I'm guessing that's a Steiff. $300 is fairly cheap for a Steiff. I have a couple rabbit plush that were in the $200 range, but that was like 25 years ago. That's about $380 in today's dollars.

Steiff teddy bears are generally made from mohair, which is not cheap, and most of the assembly is done by hand in Germany. The ones with white ear tags are limited edition and tend to be a lot more expensive than the unlimited yellow tag plush.
