Does your household pay for Utilities? (if you don't do your parents pay for them?)

This came up on reddit today. Something about people not paying for Utilities or something. Never lived in a place where you didn't pay for them (Besides maybe Water / Sewage).

Utilities Defined as:
- Water (Based on location)
- Electricity
- Heat (Oil / NatGas / ect)
- Trash Removal / Sewage (sometimes Free depending on town/city)
- idk did I miss something?

My apartment covers them in the rent, so technically I am paying for them? Not sure. Depends on how you interpret it.

Story is, I pay $801 per month, whether I leave a light on for 31 days, or if I don't even set foot in the apartment and leave it in total darkness. My electric/water usage does not change my overall rent.

That's interesting, I've never lived somewhere where Electricity is free. Even in an Apartment it is usually metered (Typical meter located outside of the apartment).

Yeah it's very unusual. One of the reasons I chose this place. I know the rent is $801 every month, no surprises.

I've never paid utilities. Sounds like a chore honestly.

I'm not your friend, buddy.
Never heard of a place that doesn't, except for people on government assistance where the gov picks up the bill.

I have a well. I wouldn't trust drinking from it, but it's otherwise fine.

I pay electric and gas. Everything else is covered under my rent. But they charge us for water based on the entire building's usage which is annoying. So sometimes I leave the water on out of spite.

Should have specified that one is based on location as well.

Back when I was in college, I rented a studio apartment and they paid water, heat/ac, electricity and basic cable. It was cheaper than the dorms but was off campus.
About a year and a half ago I moved into a place with utilities included in the rent. I'd say overall I'm losing out slightly in terms of absolute cost, but it's nice to not have to think about it: I know exactly what my bills are going to be every month.
This album is not available to the public.
Even if it were, you wouldn't wanna listen to it!
