i sure did! we owed over a grand! hooray!
Yea, this year was kind of a pain because the bank never sent me a formal statement about how much I payed in interest and property taxes for my mortgage. Then once I did calculate all that out I found out that the website I usually do my taxes with ended up shutting down.

Still, after all was said and done, I got through it and got like $2500 back thanks to spending a whole bunch this year on home improvement projects.
I am a senior software engineer. If you see me post here, I am tired of writing TPS reports.
I filed early last month. Now, I'm just waiting for my state tax refund.

I was lazy this year and put it off until last week. Normally I'm done around February. My return was weird though. Both in 2015 and 2016 I claimed only myself. In 2015 I got back $15 whereas this year I got back about $1,500. When I checked my W-2 form from 2016 somehow I didn't claim myself so was tax the full amount in 2016.

I used the 1040-A form this year instead of 1040-EZ form. Actually felt a bit overwhelmed and the majority that the 1040-A asked for didn't even apply to me. I shoulda stayed with the 1040-EZ form. For some reason Franklin Templeton never send me a 1099-DIV form. Supposedly because the interest is so little they're not obligated to do it. Though I thought reinvestment still count.

It's all just basic math. I'd imagine they simply have the various rules and stuff memorized.

I filed way back in January. It did take a long time to get my State Tax back despite not having any of the special credits.

Pretty much. I'm not an accountant, but I'm a licensed tax preparer. The actual math part is all easy, it's keeping up w/ the rule changes, and learning the rules for other states since I live in a military town that's a pain.
yes, and i already spent my return on a switch.
I'm always 50% right all the time
Also, the deadline is April 18th this year, not the 15th.

Just mailed it. I always owe, so no reason to file and pay early. A week before the deadline, I'm doing good.

Do yer pay via check or electronic withdraw? Couldn't yer put a later date for the money to be taken out?

Well maybe not all memorized. I'm sure stuff like the various tables and whatnot are used as reference material. I'd admit the 1040-EZ form is far cry in simplicity compared to the 1040-A form but if you're trained in this field of work I'd imagine you have to have most of the stuff memorize to work as efficiently as possible.

Have I started this recently in GameFAQs? I've been using it for a while when texting and even in some informal emails. If I'm unconsciously doing it without realizing it maybe I outta stop before I accidentally use it in formal writing. Thank you for bringing it up.
