A lot of these people aren't saying/thinking to strip away existing regulations, but rather to properly fund and enforce the existing regulations that exist to help people.
What's the point of rewriting the tax code if we aren't willing/able to enforce the current tax code for every citizen. People get jaded by non-functional regulatory bodies. The PPP-loan shit? Should have never happened. Regulatory bodies exist to prevent it from having happened. But without consistent enforcement it's just there is to make people "feel" like they're protected from corruption
I don't think there's anything unreasonable about asking for enforcement/funding of current regulations/programs before you can have the expectations that new regulations and funding will be met with success.
