I had no idea about this, which is very surprising, because it seems like an extremely important part of Christian history.

Shortly after Jesus' death, Christians spanided into 2 factions. There was Paul, who wanted to do things one way; there was James, Jesus' brother, who wanted to do things another way. Basically (this is simplified, of course), James didn't actually think Jesus was the Son of God, but just an important Jewish / Christian leader. Paul thought that Jesus was spanine, shepherds and wise men came to visit him on his birth, etc. There was a (non-violent) conflict between the 2 groups, and eventually Paul created what we now consider to be Christianity. The thing is, Paul and many of his people generally didn't actually meet Jesus during his life, and so it gives rise to serious problems with the accuracy of the Gospels. James did. This makes me wonder what kind of a religion I've been encouraged to follow since birth.

Did you know this? Thoughts on all this? I can't believe I didn't know this stuff before. Apologies to any Christians on this board if I got details wrong, or simplified too much.

What is your evidence that James didn't believe Jesus was the Son of God?
