AAAAAA this is the song I was most excited to see ranked (whoops it already made it in to VGMC)

Back when I first discovered this up until its VGMC I was obsessed with it and it was the one thing most stuck in my head

Everything I love about this was already touched upon in your writeup, but the overall eerie ethereal vibe brought together by every little bit (despite its surface minimalism) is what really makes this excel.

Someone also made a SMW soundfont arrange of this for a ROMhack that I almost nominated instead which is also good but like in a totally different way since the original is all about the weird sounds, and this one ends up being something new but still cool in its own way

EXACTLY haha, I was surprised. Usually with these touhou fangames it's arrangements of the parent series' music (you can only listen to a few thousand different takes on septette for the dead princess before losing your mind), but instead I get slapped with this surprise.

I actually ended up trying to dig deeper into this composer's other works, but other than Nitroid and Tobari, not much of it is on YouTube. ReverseTwinkle has some pretty good music, but all that's really uploaded are gameplay videos.
