Because the population is so fucking huge in LA with lots of job opportunities (hence the only reason people even move to LA), which means ridiculously high amounts of rush hour traffic (especially driving any where near Downtown). With so many people needing to get to certain places fast, especially jobs like mines that time you for how long you are on the road, you have a system that rewards really aggressive driving with stress added onto as a factor, it also doesnt help we are missing some city transportation methods like subways and fast rails.
