Oh, that's hard, I love them so much...aside from the super obvious (Chappell Roan is obviously an insanely talented vocalist but also well-known for it), and in no particular order:

Julien Baker, Ethel Cain, TORRES, Harlee Case (New Constellations), Phoebe Bridgers
Indie enby pick: Roz Raskin (NOVA ONE)

I had a drink with Kevin Richardson of the backstreet boys once, kinda. I was at a party at the Paris hotel in Vegas, since it was a post bsb concert party ninety percent of the attendees were women. So me and Kevin, both tall guys, make eye contact over several much lower heads, hold up our full drinks, chug them, and held up our empties. So he's my favorite singer.

I think I'm the opposite, I might tend to listen to more female vocalists. Maybe not consciously, but it does work out that way. Or maybe not. It just kind of feels like I do.

And I don't really listen to "singers" so much. I have more focus on the production, but if they have good vocals, that's great too. A recent example being Magdalena Bay. Matt Lewin produces the songs, and this is what hooked me. Mica Tenenbaum's voice kind of annoyed me at first, but she's really grown on me and she has a way of making me want to sing along.

Off the top of my head though

Male: Louis Cole, Thundercat, Joji, dudes from King Gizzard (I believe Stu Mackenzie fronts most of the time but the others have their songs, too?), and if rap counts, Ren and Wax maybe?

Female: Honestly, mostly Japanese singers. Utada used to be a big one but I haven't actively listened to her music in a while. Natsuko Miyamoto from Mass of Fermenting Dregs, Ikkyu from Tricot. Also a lot of older musicians from 70's and 80's but I say this with the caveat of specifically those periods. Akiko Yano, Yoshiko Sai, Hako Yamasaki, Taeko Ohnuki... I could keep listing them.

I just like music a lot

Respect for listing Michael Jackson and Avril Lavigne, which are mine. Polar opposites in their artistry but found myself gravitating to their music more than any other artists over the years.

I recently attended a little live event on Roz Raskin's Patreon to celebrate the release of their new single "chlorine"- and they did like a Q&A.
Kevin Richardson was one of the celebrities they've met: a friend of theirs got Roz a job doing hair on a commercial shoot and Kevin Richardson was in the commercial and they did his hair- Roz said he seemed really sweet and down-to-earth.

That's nice to hear. I think he's genuinely a cool dude. He's big into anime and horror stuff too, so he's not a one dimensional airhead pop bro. My wife met him one time too. She went on a backstreet cruise with her cousin and he knocked on their door and complemented the artwork they stuck on said door. She's obsessed with them so we're going to try to see them at the sphere this February. And I'm very down. I'm not too cool to admit that.

Good luck, that sounds like a great opportunity to do some quality dancing with the wife.

Roz has also met Lucy Dacus- they opened for Lucy when they were fronting their old band (Roz and the Rice Cakes) back in the day and Lucy actually hired their drummer for her tour, so Roz got to go to Lucy's show in Boston earlier this year and hang out back-stage with everyone (I can intuit this from them saying they met Jasmine4.t there). When boygenius won their Grammies two years ago, they made a post gushing about what a sweetheart Lucy is.
They've also met Julien Baker, who has a dog named Beans. Kind of think I should ask them if they've met Phoebe next time...

But, yes, speaking of the patron saint of third wheels and disaster bisexuals...

Female, probably between Amy Winehouse and Kali Uchis, and for opposite reasons/styles. Amy was more like someone like Etta James - raw, emotional, powerful, and usually with a lot of improvisation. Kali is more like Astrud Gilberto - little or no vibrato, understated and breathy. To be fair, I also enjoy Doja Cat's voice. It's versatile and varies from making me laugh to being impressed.

Male, I'd probably have said Mike Patton for the majority of my adult life, and even though I still love his voice, I'm kind of over it at the same time? I honestly can't think of many traditionally 'good' singers, but I'd probably put Stevie Wonder at the top in that vein. I also can't help but love Steven Page's voice from Barenaked Ladies since he also has a wild range, powerful voice and he's been insanely consistent. Also really enjoy Matt Pike and Jared Warren for big powerful yell/screams or whatever that is. Greg Puciato for scary screaming. Gibby Haynes for a comforting weird psychedelic Texan man.
