saw a rumor a few days ago but they have put out press releases confirming the purchase.

saudis have obviously been linked to gaming lately but this is their biggest purchase towards it by far, sucks but yeah this is just how the world is turning towards

I did a quick skim and I apparently haven't bought an EA game since Madden 07 so it sounds like I'll be keeping it that way

RIP EA though I dont think they made much of anything I cared about. Hopefully doesnt happen to other studios

This is very bad. On the other hand I think I havent bought a game from EA proper since Titanfall 2 nine years ago (It Takes Two being an EA Partners game which they dont profit from) so this will require no change in behaviour from me.

Well the main way they matter right now is continuing to give Josef Fares money. But he can probably fund his own stuff by this point I would hope.

Honestly Fares has done well enough that it wouldnt shock me if he wanted to go independent

sad I won't be buying any more Mass Effect games, but it was nice of them to release Andromeda to cushion the blow.

Deal financed partially by $20 billion in debt, EA expected to make aggressive cuts as a result. MBS has experience in making gruesome and terrible cuts.

I wasn't convinced that Mass Effect game was ever coming out even before this announcement

Maybe the new owners will sell off some of the dead IPs, or hire in people to make something with them. I'm probably not getting a new Mercenaries, am I?

EA has been dogshit since 2007, so who cares. I hope the company goes under asap now though, before I was just whatever.

With Saudi money, does going under even matter? Cultural capital is what they're purchasing, not profits.

Only EA game I've bought in forever was It Takes Two which, mercifully, doesn't even require the launcher any more.

I guess Split Fiction is off the table.
