Will be covering some National Parks in Washington and Oregon, and will be checking Seattle and Portland out. Want to swing by and see the Goonies stuff in Oregon.

Anything I should look out for or definitely make time to do? Olympic National Park in Washington seems to have a ton of stuff to do

Currently looking at around 10ish days

Are you flying in or driving?

PDX, the Portland airport is extremely nice and the views are as well.

Flying. From there not sure if I will rent a car, RV, or do train. There will be four (all adults) going, so we may try to do an RV and share the driving, but not sure yet

Multnomah Falls is both picturesque and easily accessible.

Id do a train trip. Not real long but excellent sight seeing and fun because in the U.S. people rarely ride trains these days, let alone old steam engine trains. They only cost around thirty some dollars. I would look into

Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad
Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad

What is the time commitment round trip? Couple of hours?

Yes, about 90 minutes. Its not a long commute like say Amtrak Cascades which is the most beautiful PNW ride you can take but its like 450 miles and all the way into Canada over 10 hours one way.

These shorter ones are under 2 hours. More like 90 minutes.

I saw the Cascades thing on Amtrak's site. Is it a train that constantly goes from one end to the other, or does it actually make stops along the way?

There are stops. Not sure how many or exactly where but I know it makes stops.

Olympic and Hoh rainforest are amazing. You can catch a lot of the falls along the Colombia River Gorge with just a short drive. Multnohmah is just as easy as get out of the car and look but the lot there is busy and you have to pay. Lots of other free and short walk falls along that stretch. Latourell is one of our favorites. Good view from Vista House on the way too. Our favorite falls are Falls Creek Falls, its maybe an hour drive from Portland and a 2 mile round trip hike but worth it. Panther Creek also not too shabby. If you are staying in Astoria make the drive to Cannon beach for Haystack Rock. Oros Restaurant in Cannon has amazing clam chowder.
