Well?

2004 - 2008 era.

Probably 2002-2010. It was around 2010 that people started to quit forums and reddit started to get popular.

Pre gamespot for me.

2008-2015

July 1, 2002 and earlier.

Considering I was here for a short time in the 2000's then left for 8 years then came back in 2008 this was hard to decide.

2000 it was the peak of PS1 goodness and I mostly was intrested in FFT and RPGmaker. I came back for Vagrant story. I got intrested in the politics board and watched that drama as a lurker for 12 years.

So I'm gonna say 2000 though. There was less drama then

I'd say my core memories here fall into 2005-2012.

It's been a cabin fever nightmare since around 2015. A lot of people clearly needed to leave for their own sake, I'm glad they did.

i remember a CE aim chat consisting almost entirely of teenagers trying to dunk on each other's music taste and bragging about their drug use to one another. i wonder if even one of them was telling the truth

I remember a CE tinychat. Was pretty fun sometimes but ruined by 2 or 3 assholes

Probably 2008 - 2015 (stuff happens, gamefaqs starts decaying in popularity). Best time I've had on this site was at the tail end of this period on the Fire Emblem Conquest board before the game left Japan in that period. Had a blast. It became worse after the game came stateside, and got even worse when it was released in Europe.

Also had a good time on the politics board. 2016 - 2022 (post-popularity decay, pre-fandom) corresponds to my time there. Horrible Fandom had to ruin it. Screw them. Screw Jimmy Wales and his role in making Fandom.

Regarding 2004 - 2007 (post-gamespot, major site changes, cjayc leaves), was when I started using this site. Way too many jerks on the Pokemon Ruby board, especially some user called Blaziken-something. One of the biggest trolls ever. He claimed to be his younger brother when everyone hated him and was obviously found out blatantly lying about it almost immediately. He also trolled a lot of my topics. Urgh... Didn't have a good time on this site then and thus left for several years expect for reading the occasional guide.

Now with Fandom...well the site's dying and I frequent the CE board the most as a Politics board refugee, but it's quarantined and we are losing users every so often it seems like. Wouldn't be surprised if Fandom just closes it one day. Just a sad situation. Wish I knew of a good alternative to GameFAQs, but I don't like any of the options I am aware of. Just depressing. Oh yeah, DToast said in one of his early posts on this site he would be putting up 300K game guide bounties. With blatant lies like that, it is really hard to take him and anyone above him seriously (Timmy, his boss, came off as rude the few times I have seen him post as well, mainly just to smash down our expectations things could get better). The mood for the site's future seems to be as low as the user count these days...
