Finished it a little while ago. Sad to say I didn't like it all that much, it was just kind of middling. I expected much better action scenes being that it has the pedigree of the Castlevania show, but maybe that had adifferent animation team.

My main issue is that they focused WAY too much on Mary/Lady, to the point where I'd honestly consider her the main character of the show. I'm pretty sure she has more screentime than Dante until maybe the last episode.

I'd watch a Season 2, but I'm sure that won't be for years down the road so I can't say I'm excited for it right now.

It sounds painful.

And difficult to do, since they don't send discs anymore.

I can powder a disc and throw it in the Devil's eyes but I don't know how to introduce a streaming service to tear production.

Only seen two episodes so far and find it ok. Yea looking forward to how it ends.

Hearing Kevin Conroys voice makes me sad every time.

It came out today. I don't know about any behind the scenes stuff, but eh I'd say it's worth a watch. There's only 8 episodes, an half hour each so there's no huge time commitment

Yeah no idea what made them take that turn with it, I'm not mad at it not being a 1:1 adaptation or anything, but adding that element was certainly an odd choice. But that was still honestly low on my issues with the show.

It's not completely atrocious, but it's not something I'll probably rewatch or think too much about going forward, at least until whenever season 2 possibly comes out. So in a way it's still kind of turn your brain off.

This is just another DmC in my eyes, so I'm gonna skip it.

This came out of left field for me, had no idea this something that was even in the works. I'm excited to watch it, hope it is good. Just glad it is focused on chad Dante and not that bitch ass Nero.

Got like halfway through the season and its fun. Kinda dont like JYB as Dante or the girl from the Rob Zombie Halloween movies as Lady and the dialogue is try hard-y with the excessive cursing. But the fight scenes are cool, the animation is great, these nu-metal needle drops are fun

I got about three hours into one of those titles and returned it immediately.

It's alright. Action scenes are cool and I like Dante's portrayal, but they made Lady really obnoxious and I hated how it felt like every other sentence from her contained her saying some variation of fuck, especially since the VA always sounded uncomfortable or unused to saying it. Bringing in some music from DMC5 was appreciated.

Didnt even know it was out. 8.0 on IMDb, 92% critic / 80% audience so far.

Guessing if audience drops its probably because people maybe have an issue with Lady getting a lot of screen time (based on what I saw people saying on the movies board).

It's great imo

Too much Lady. I wanted more scenes of Dante just being a bad ass.

I said the same thing. I get that they don't want to make Dante too overpowered like in the games, and that he's weaker at this younger age, but at times it feels like they went too far in the other direction

And you know, I wouldn't be mad at them making changes to her character (although she was fleshed out perfectly fine in the games). But making her over the top foul mouthed lieutenant woman is probably one of the least interesting routes that could've taken

Episode 6 was great. I wouldnt want to doom all of humanity but I wouldnt be against turning Lady over to the Rabbit. Also made episode 4 more awesome in retrospect. Thought Ladys team got jobbed too easily and now you see why. It was a straight up hit job.

Enjoying episode 7 but Lady one-shotting the demon that effortlessly ganked half of her team is what lol

I honestly didn't like episode 6. Doing the limited dialogue was a nice touch but it being another instance of focusing on Lady soured me on it cuz I was already annoyed with it by that point

Some of the changes they made are genuinely baffling and work to the utter detriment of the story. I don't mind the War on Terror analogy and giving the Demons more depth, but Lady is a far worse character here and the complete lack of Arkham and that connection except him dying in a flashback is....why?

Yeah I'm on episode 5. Dante is far to weak.

The main change that really bothered me was making it so that Dante didn't know he was a Son of Sparda and half demon . It seemed like a very arbitrary change that actually lessens the impact of his character

Thats the thinghe really doesntunless its Lady. He pretty handily defeats everyone else and then suddenly falls victim to plot armor anytime Lady is around. Its pretty jarring tbh

Again, Lady really sucks on this show. She's basically the main character over Dante but they take away anything likable about her and her most compelling traits.

Instead of Baines, why not have Arkham as the leader of DARKCOM? He could've still murdered Lady's mother, lied to her a demon was responsible and is doing all this for his own benefit? Dude's probably the best villain of the series besides Vergil himself, as opposed to Diet Dick Cheney we got.

In a confined space with other people around. He made quick work of them during the highway chase. But I agreeits still definitely a bit inconsistent.

I still really enjoyed it overall though.

In his younger years of DMC3 he's introduced to lady by taking a bullet to the head and barely being phased.

First, I will say this isnt the game. Second, we get a parallel of that in the finale.

But my point stands, IMOhe largely sweeps so long as its not Lady for whatever ridiculous reason the writers thought they could have make sense. Outside of him never coming out on top against her - which is absurd - he doesnt struggle too much against the demons.

He makes quick work of the mercs sent to capture him. It even seems like hes toying with Lady a bit at first but then plot armor. He doesnt have any trouble with Agni/Rudra during the highway chase and even takes their weapons from them (to their own surprise). Cavaliere Angelo is the only one who seems evenly matched and even then, Dante gets by pretty easily.

On the plane, the only reason, IMO, he has the losing hand at first is because of the confined space and there being people around. He had just had a flashback to his mom who the stewardess resembled. Once he let looseone was done and the other only came out on top in the end due to Dante not understanding his DT yet. He also makes quick work of the random mooks on the rooftop, is able to hold his own again against Angelo, and then the Rabbit. Roided up rabbit gives him trouble until he takes the Sword of Sparda and embraces his devil side.

That change is understandable though to an extent. As far as the games, Dante himself has only been in real peril like twice in the entire franchise. It's cool there in cutscenes but for an entire non interactive show it would be kind of boring for him to just shake everything off. In reality he still pretty much does in the show.

I mean he recovers from having half of his skull blown apart in what had to be less than an hour at most

Him jobbing to Lady is pretty indefensible tho. I could see if he was toying with her but she just gets the upper hand on him multiple times

I haven't finished so i won't read the spoilers but I know it's not the games it's a show. I just feel he's to weak when the Dante we know would never really worry about some mid bosses. I understand him being OP might not translate as well but they could have also wrote the story with a more formidable counter. Lady though does somehow normally get the drop on him in the games.

Yeah I just would have liked a more formidable opponent or write around his power. It's not like the world that he is in is ever really safe even when he's so strong.

Lady in the game does punch far above her weight class though. But she's clowning him alot. I still have to finish the show though. I'm liking it for what it is.

He's a goofy cornball on the exterior but moody and depressed on the inside. He's also stylish at everything he does with much effort.

Yeah the Lady focus + trying way too hard to drop an f bomb every other scene is pretty jarring.

Otherwise, really like the Dante segments as it really is him. Just yeah, weird decision for him not to remember/know that he's the Son of Sparda

Yeah the whole lampshade hanging, can't have anything be too serious for too long mentality in storytelling is far past its expiration date these days. It's like writers are too concerned with coming off as a corny cliche has become a cliche within itself
