Well, keep in mind that Platinum is apparently in a rough spot right now and it's bad enough for co-founder Hideki Kamiya to go back to capcom and reform clover. So the Platinum of 2025 is not the Platinum from Bayonetta or Automata.

Platinum is the perfect team to carry the torch, specially after how NG3 turned out.

It has been so long now since the last releases I pretty sure my senses have dulled on sensing them.

No need to worry about off screen projectiles if you're in an inazuma drop loop and abusing the quick orb pickup gimmick to get to level three charge attacks instantaneously.

Kind of wish Ninja Gaiden 4 was the 2D side scrolling style, but I guess we'll wait for Shinobi to come back to it.

I will say, though, I wish there was a new game that carried the adventure style of the first game vs the level-centric format of the sequels.

Imagine a ninja gaiden with level design from the fromsoft folks. Not quite open world, but deeply interconnected in a way that makes sense while still being fantastical.

Yeah, exactly. Open-world lite. The original game was linear compared to actual open-world games but there was more exploration around the levels to break-up the action. Really made the game feel big back in the day compared to Ninja Gaiden 2 (which was fantastic, just different).

Have you not been keeping up with the studio? They had a mass exodus of talent recently, largely due to their GaaS push, and reports indicate that the higher ups there still want to push that.

Doesn't mean this won't be good but the Platinum of 10 years ago is a far cry from the Platinum of today.

Yeah, I am having fun.

Apparently there is some problems playing the PC game pass version. You can read about what some people are talking about in this topic:

The main problem I see on the PS5 version is that the HDR is real booty butt cheeks and makes the game look crazy washed out (and trust me, it ain't my display. I got one of the better HDR gaming TVs but every now and then you just run into a video game that has a terrible HDR implementation. This is one of them), and even if the PS5 is set to HDR on when supported you can't actually turn off the HDR toggle in the game's screen settings, which I'm assuming is some kind of glitch that needs to be patched. You have to actually go into the PS5's settings and cut HDR off.

Other than the HDR thing performance seems good. Playing on 120hz and nothing feels off.

I think the trailer looks good but its very reasonable to be cautious. Its been a long time since ng3 and platinum is in chaos. Its releasing this year so development should be done or almost and we dont have long to wait

I like how they kept the sections where you play as momiji, ayana and rachel, but took out the annoying extra bosses like the statue of liberty and that giant buddha statue.

I do wish they kept the co-op mode from the initial sigma release on PS3 though. (You can still do those missions in this game, but you get a AI partner instead of it being another player).

How is the enemy count? Is it the reduced number, higher HP enemies of Sigma 2 or the swarms of enermies like in the 360 original?

I'm glad it doesn't have purple mist anymore, though. That was a truly baffling decision. I remember the original reasoning being that it's a less brutal take on the game from one of the developers before the PS3 game came out and it made no sense.

For those playing this game, trust me on this one, turn off HDR. Its pretty busted in this game and makes the game look crazy washed out. All those comparison videos you see on youtube probably has HDR on for the ninja gaiden 2 black side because for whatever reason the devs made it to where you can't actually turn HDR off in-game. (There is a toggle for the HDR setting, but clicking on it does nothing. On the PS5 you have to actually turn HDR off on the system settings so this game would have it off). Turning HDR off makes the game look nice and vibrant, and it is a pretty big difference.

sigma 2 black is a travesty, but man does this game look good. wish I could turn into my dream NG
