And they gave her a SpongeBob popsicle to get her talking. Completely tasteless.

Nah, those Popsicles are quite tasty.

just reading how donations to group funds will go to the school first

and as a Christian evangelical school they are anti gay and anti-trans per their own job posting

so anyway if youre considering donating to anyone keep that in mind and maybe look into donating directly to the families affected by this

They really unironically floated the idea of a tax-funded mental health service for the poor CEOs & double down with charging the dude with terrorism, in record time no less, but another school shooting is just another day in the USA.

I dont really keep up with all the gun control stuff. Actually, Im generally behind in most news, especially after I moved outside the US. What are people proposing for gun laws and regulations?

None.

I meant, for those who are vocal about wanting things to change with gun laws. What do they want to change or what have they proposed (what is their solution)? Not necessarily from the current or upcoming leaders. Even regular folks.

Step 1: Repeal 2nd amendment.

Step 2: Ban all semiautomatic gunpowder guns. Essentially the only legal guns should be bolt action / break action / muzzle loaders / etc. The only semiautomatic guns allowed are air guns & stuff like that.

Step 3: Confiscate & buyback existing guns

Step 4: Regulate remaining legal guns basically exactly the way we do cars.

Would that ban private gun ownership?

No. You'd just be very limited in options. For actual firearms, you'd be limited basically to guns that need to be reloaded every single shot.

For personal defense, you'd be able to use something like a Gavle.

What are people proposing for gun laws and regulations?

  • A lengthy waiting period to purchase a gun would give hotheads a chance to cool down before they take their rage out on someone in the form of a bullet.
  • Closing the gun show loophole. Background aren't required for the private sale of a gun.
  • Robust red flag laws. If you've been charged for violent crimes, domestic abuse, or been reported for threatening online behavior, then a qualified professional needs to determine whether or not you're fit to own a deadly weapon.
  • Ban AR-style weapons. These are highly efficient killing machines with few practical benefits for the average citizen. Those who might need them for, say, hog hunting can fill out a permit.
  • Require safety training courses. If we as a society won't let someone get behind the wheel of a vehicle without first demonstrating competence, we should do at least that much when it comes to firearms.
  • Charge the owner of a gun not reported stolen as an accomplice if their firearm is used in the commission of a crime. If your kid shoots someone at school with a weapon you left laying around, you should be charged for allowing it to happen.

I would add requiring Firearms Insurance as well. No gun purchases allowed, no gun show sales/purchases, no firing range practice, etc. without proof of insurance.
