The bill gives high school educators access to materials from the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation that help educate students about the dangers of communism and totalitarianism.

The House of Representatives on Friday passed a bill with bipartisan support that seeks to help educate America's youth about the dangers of communism.

The bill, which was first introduced by Florida GOP Rep. Maria Salazar in 2021, passed in a 327-62 vote.

While I think learning the dangers of capitalism is more relevant because we live under capitalism, my concern is that

Congress gives away the authority to determine the material to a private foundation.

Not that it matters because the plan is to teach kids new ideas are bad.

Is this even really necessary? The vast majority of Americans already hate communism. Hell, tons of liberals on this board will regularly parrot anti-communist talking points that originated with Tsarist or Nazi propaganda and have no clue that's what they're doing. Even one of the most vocal opponents of anti-Semitism here repeated anti-communist propaganda that started as anti-Semitic propaganda.

Americans having it drilled into their heads to oppose anything mildly close to communism or socialism, as well as the establishment preventing anybody who is a threat to capitalism from advancing to any significant position in politics is why Americans have turned to fascism to solve their problems instead.

In capitalism, the poorest people remain poor because they're not allowed access to the capital to make investments, while the upper caste with all the wealth gets wealthier.

An exploited economic underclass is a feature and necessity of capitalism, because no one else will provide the labor. By design.
