like we're all doomsaying about objectively terrible economic decisions and inhumane practices on the horizon.

whenever I saw "bad news" about the left though it was always "omg there's a MAN pretending to be a WOMAN in the government" or "they've got a woke agenda and they're trying to teach our kids history".

They have truly mastered the art of fearmongering.

Lying and projecting are core tenets of conservatism.

Yeah. While neither side is exactly pure when it comes to digging for the "truth" of a matter, it is quite clear which side of the political spectrum has a more comfortable relationship with deceit. I would say only fervent tankies and outright communists are willing to engage with dogma and unfounded rumours to the same degree as a large portion of the American right, and I would argue that has far more to do with Horseshoe Theory than it does with the political ideals of the Left.

just because you don't care about the "bad news" doesn't mean it's fabricated because clearly there are enough people that consider these sorts of things important issues

which is ironic because the christian right actually wants to indoctrinate children with whitewashed history lessons and forced bible lessons.

But what I'm saying is like... think about that mention of teaching kids history in the first post. the liberal viewpoint isn't just the natural state of the universe, it's also an ideology, and thus if they have a say in teaching they will likely teach things to perpetuate that ideology. To which you might say that's good, because it'll definitely make the kids better people than the other side, and I'd agree with you there. But you can't teach stuff without imparting some of your own mindset so it's not like it's fake that this is being done, and there are certainly people out there who consider it important to make sure that it isn't

I feel like there's been a weird growing tendency on this board to act as though people with other viewpoints aren't real people, or maybe even don't exist at all, which seems even stranger to me after the election when you have votes as empirical evidence that they do exist

No, it's fake. Grade school kids aren't being taught critical race theory and they aren't being taught to hate white people or hate themselves because they are white or that white people cause all the world's problems.

i have no insight into the American economy, so i wonder if all the talk Trump did about how it's the worst its ever been, was there any truth to that at all?

i feel like it's a blatant lie, but no one called him out on it

Also a lot of people complaining about "critical race theory" have no idea what it actually means.

Yes but there's a disconnect between the health of the economy and the price of what people pay in stores. People voted heavily off of what they experience rather than based on the bigger picture.

Also there's an infamous picture of news outlets before and after the election. Before the election there was one outlet reporting that Trump's tariffs would be bad. Immediately afterward, all of them started reporting on that except for Fox (also too many people get news from Fox)

Trump destroyed the economy before he left, Biden had to fix that. Thats how the American economy has worked for decades. Every single time a Republican takes office, they ride the high of a Democrat controlled economy and proceed to fuck it into oblivion, get voted out and a Democrat comes in to barely fix it and then Republicans swoop in to take credit.

This time however, there was a fucking worldwide inflation issue going on due to Covid and Biden did an amazing job of controlling and lowering it to make the American economy better than the rest of the world.

So I found this site a couple of weeks ago. I actually use this instead of any news website unless said place has a reliable track record.
