Bloober Team pulled it off. Fucking finally Konami does something decent with this series

It's not a 100% faithful remake but imho the game is improved for the changes they've made - the world/map is expanded and fleshed out (particularly the interiors) and the gameplay has been tweaked to compensate for the freedom of camera movement and to modernize the controls. Expanded puzzles and tweaked boss battles. Really enjoying it so far.

Might be a tad too easy on Normal difficulty. I'm finding tons of bullets and health pickups. And the changes to the soundtrack can be a bit distracting if you're familiar with the original although Yamaoka did a great job updating the music.

Those are my only gripes so far but they're minor. SH2 is one of my all-time fav games and I was deeply skeptical of this remake but man does it feel good to revisit this game with these updates

I thought everyone who loved the original was bound by a blood oath to hate this remake.

Really awesome! Overall the original is better and I just recommend everyone playing or even better, owning both. I own both now and some things are better in the original but both versions are must plays and owning.

I love Lord Jesus, Family Matters (for Steve & Laura which I typed up a beautiful alt from Just One Date episode) and FFIX (for Zidane & Garnet).

Is the PC version of the original good? I don't own a playstation and probably wouldn't pay that much for a game anyway. And I always heard bad things about the original PC version.

It is the directors cut (which is basically the "Greatest Hits" edition of the PS2 game, or the XBox port) so it includes the added content and uncensored cutscenes. Would have to get the enhanced edition patch to make is usable on a modern system I believe.

I might consider getting this eventually. I checked the requirements for the PC version when it was first announced and I could tell it would probably run like crap on my old PC. But I think it should be fine on my new laptop.

I only have the console version. PS2 greatest hits with the Born From A Wish scenario.

The series was strongest during the first 4 main entries and then drastically fell off. I personally enjoyed all first 4 entries, prob rank them 2>3>1>4. You don't need to play the first game to jump into the second. They're connected on some level but they're entirely separate stories.

SH 2 is widely regarded as one of the all-time best survival horror games for good reason. Prob still has the best lore and storyline of any survival horror, and the plot holds up well against just about any video game from any genre honestly. Prob in my top 10 video game plots.

Gameplay is dated, coming from that old fixed camera with tank controls era, so a remake with updated controls is most welcome. If you can hang with that fixed camera tank controls stuff I highly recommend playing the original, but the remake is a great way to get into this if you can't be bothered with the dated gameplay

Yeah same.

I was very skeptical of this remake because I really did not like any of Bloober Team's previous games, and the early trailers for the remake really did not help either. But so far I've actually been really impressed with it.
