I recognize literally no one else other than Billie Eilish on the list lol. Kali as well but only as a featured artist, can't name a single song where she's lead artist if my life depended on it.

The only ones I recognize are Billie Eilish and Beyonce but I don't listen to them...

Listened to zero only heard of 4 on the list and 3 of the 4 Ive heard of Ive never listened to either.

But I dont feel as bad this time around where usually its only me who doesnt know who the modern artists are people are naming. Apparently by the other CE reactions this list isnt exactly full of well known modern artists.

No. I've been bad with checking out new music lately. I found one album I really love and I've been stuck on it and they're not big enough to be on any chart/list like this, though they're getting there.

Reading through the list, Mannequin Pussy is a hilariously awesome name.

they didn't make the list but I still got to check out Arianna grande and Tyla. Pleasantly surprised they scored so high in the mid 80's. Didn't expect them too tbh.

St. Vincent ooked like some Lady Gaga pop BS. I don't mess with that but I'm not above admitting when I am wrong.

Looking back through it, Vampire Weekend and the Pakistani jazz band would obviously play instruments so I retract my query.

Just looked like a bunch of pop and hip hop shit and I haven't cared for either in like 25 years or better

I dont know St. Vincents music but I recognize her ever since she was one of the 4 musicians who played with the surviving members of Nirvana (one of my all time favorite bands) on their RR Hall of Fame induction like 10 years ago. They introduced her by that and called her Anne and she sang a really great rendition of Lithium I thought was quite good.

That was also my first introduction to Lorde who did a great version of All Apologies. She was pretty damn young at the time. Hell shes fairly young now and that was 10 years ago.

It was different seeing 4 women do 4 different Nirvana songs but they were all great for the songs they performed and two were already quite famous so I think Dave and Krist wanted to do something as far away from Kurt as possible and stayed away from any male singers. Plus the women were great.

Anyway thats why I recognize St Vincent and Lorde even though Lorde wasnt mentioned.

I know I listened to Waxahatchees album and Charli xcxs brat. I enjoyed brat and I food listen to it again. I didnt care for Waxahatchees new album. I was bummed because Ive liked her previous works.

I would assume that part of it is also to mitigate comparisons between the two singers.

Like, fans are less likely to get up in arms about "replacing" Cobain if a woman is singing.

I don't see any progressive metal on that list, so no I haven't heard any of it.

I do enjoy what I know of Vampire Weekend so I am interested in hearing their new stuff

I've only listened to 1 (St. Vincent) and only heard of 6 of the artists on that list so apparently I'm not doing too well.

I did peruse English Teacher and Bill Ryder-Jones after viewing the list and definitely want to hear the rest of those albums. I'll probably sample the rest too since it's so easy with Apple Music. I'm always on the lookout for something new to check out.

None. My new music mostly comes from what I stumble upon in Spotify now.

But this is a good reminder for me to check out Vampire Weekend's new album. One of their songs got recommended by smart shuffle and I told myself I'd check out the new album. Completely forgot to do that though XD.

I'll probably also check out Kali Uchi's Spanish albums. I like her English albums, so I'll probably like those too.

Not much else on that list really interests me. I was never a huge fan of schoolboy Q, even though he's an LA native. And I absolutely hate what I've heard off of Beyonce's country album. I love her in general, but hard pass.

I don't know the last time I listened to an album released that same year.

Most of the 'new' shit I listen to is when Pandora decides to drop some new tracks on my stations.

I was gonna say no, but then remembered I heard some of that African album a couple months (?) ago.

I think I stopped listening to new albums for the most part in the early 2000s.

Unsurprisingly I've listened to none of them.
