I mean I do question why this would ramp up support for someone. Nobody gave a shit when Hillary had pneumonia. They actually just made fun of her anyway, despite the fact she could have died from it.

When someone gets shot, my mind doesn't go to support them or their ideals, it's to hope they make it through. When Hamlin's heart stopped on the field, I didn't all of a sudden become a Bills fan.

So this idea that you'd become a Reagan fan after he got shot, or a Trump fan after he got shot at, or a Scalise fan after he got shot is kinda weird. Them being shot doesn't erase their policy, their history of saying vile things, or instantly make them a good person.
