It's called Trails of Cold Steel NW and it takes place during the time skip between CS2 and 3 in the North Ambrian war.

It's very curious how they're going to do this because the North Ambrian war has kind of a defined start and end date and we already know most of who was there and what they were doing. I assume it'll continue up to a point and then get some kind of Phantasma/Reverie Corridor to make up whatever bullshit they want.

Oh you're playing Jaegers in this game. That's really cool I always wanted a game where you got to play the Jaegers.

Just.... Not like this....

They don't even try to justify the gacha you just have Estelle and Rean fighting together on the side of the Jaegers in North Ambria just cause.

I don't see this game lasting more than 2 years.

the next Game in NA is the start of a new story arc while the gaming coming in Japan looks like it will be wrapping up the previously mentioned arc while starting a new one

Full of horrible translation too, I mean Ellie description goes from calling her she, to calling her him.
Ream title is "The Gray Knight" Elliot is "The Icy Maiden", ect.

I bought every single trails game minus CS1&2 & Sky 3 in a huge mega package for $400.

I guarantee you some people have already spent more than that on this game.

Technically I got CS1 & 2 as gifts from CE but I've played every single one from start to end.

I meant an entirely new setting, with entirely new characters for those of us who want to get into the series without having to play a bazillion other JRPGs.

What is the point then? The major drawpoint of Trails is that the games are connected. Take place in the same world/continent that gets expanded on with each game.

You can Play Legend of Heroes 1-5 if you want. I think 1-2 are connected and 3-5 are connected but neither of them are connected to trails except as in game fiction.

Trails' being one big interconnected series is one of its main things. It's like asking for a new One Piece

if you really want to get into it without getting into the whole series you can start at the start of new arcs, but yeah seems like it's not really your thing

I just don't have the time to play through 5+ JRPGs anymore to get the full story. And I'm the kind of guy who would need to play every game in the series.

Every game has a "story so far" thing in the menu.

That said it's not really that long. I played through all 10 games in about 5 months. Always picked the easiest difficulty to get through it as fast as possible. It's definitely worth your time if you're an old school JRPG fan seeing as a lot of other franchises are either dead (BOF, WA, Lufia) or vary wildly in consistency (FF, Atelier, Tales).

Oh, and I would also recommend strongly against watching the anime. As mentioned it's *bad.* Better to just watch one of the Trails youtubers rip into it as you'll get everything from the show without the massive boredom.

Starting in cold steel you couldn't check empty chests anymore. They probably would have done it if they could for at least CS1/2. Someone else took over localization after that.

They couldn't even be bothered to add subtitles for the anime scenes......Aren't they just scenes from the anime, which was dubbed and subbed?

Zero/Azure are by NIS but they also did it there. They even made a joke about how Erebonian chests don't talk lol

They added chest quotes in 2 that you could only see by bringing the wrong people to the special challenge chests. They definitely wanted to add them, the game just didn't support it.

i'll end up buying that game in time.

cant remember how many months but i'll be getting to reverie within the next 1-6 month's (depends on game choices leading to the next 49) after skyrim.

needing to buy 3 and 4 again for ps5 when the price is right. same with getting europe version of trails of cold steel. (2 is out of reach due to japan text).

Oh yeah I was playing Trails to Reverie when this website distracted me and I wanted to socialize. I played Trails 1, Cold Steel 1-4, Trails to Zero and that's about it. I actually regret not playing Trails to Azure more because I felt like speeding through the story (on youtube) in case it went on sale. That is better than Zero. I thought ppl were lying. I also played some of the Garghav trilogy (not as cool as the PC88 folks) but everyone saying you need to play 11-13 games to catch up. So I read stuff about this dumb series. But Cold Steel should have been done in 3 games.

Anyhow, here I am playing Reverie and I read the backstory of the C chapter, Next post I may spoiler stuff but spoilering stuff is awkward b/c it's like a triple click to get rid of it too.

Reverie was fucking fantastic. Basically everything I want in a jrpg.

Trails is my favourite series and Ive played from Sky FC and completed up to Reverie. Im not gonna play a gacha game though it better be non-canon

Really going to lay down soon, the Crossbell story was SUPER contrived and I knew this already going in, but I feel like I am going to get the most out of this in the Reverie corridor and I like the C, N, S story path. I was hesitant to read all the back story in the game but it was worth it before I got there.

I don't think it's non canon but I don't think anything important will happen in the game. You will probably be able to just read up on it on Wikipedia.

The game is also pretty terrible even by gacha standards. I've played a lot and this one is definitely one of the worst. It's also one of the worst spending propositions. It's like Diablo Immortal bad.

People like to say that cold steel is the erebonia games but really it's kind of like there's just 7 fucking crossbell games. Shit way overstayed its welcome and I was really glad to see it finally got wrapped up in reverie for good.

I wouldn't mind visiting mishelam again but I just want to move on and do some other shit. I'm very excited for Daybreak.

Like, there was definitely a lot that needed to be resolved, and just doing it as part of a small aspect of a CS3 field study really doesn't feel right. I think it's fine getting more focus in CS4/Rev just to round out the story.

Yea for the Crosbell arc it was so stupid in at least the set up in Reverie. I might as well use the tags. These are major Crosbell spoilers for the PSP. But what happens in Reverie us literally the first two hours...yes we saved Crosbell for real this time. Now finally there is peace. And we can become a true independent nation as opposed to the dictatorship that Dieter Crois created because evilness etc. Oh lolno of course Rufus broke out of jail and oh Dieter is back and the mafia boss who helped Lloyd break outta jail is being controlled too. Why is this happening. Also that army is back again but Rufus is leading them.

I feel like there had to be a better way to set up another Crossbell story in Reverie and if I didn't know that was going to happen and hadn't of taken such a long break. I would have dropped the game right there. But I am just accepting the plot arc in this game there is stupid and will get better and felt like revisiting these damn characters haha

It does.

The setup is a little whack but it all gets explained later.

1. It's not really Rufus, just an extremely realistic robot
2. Dieter and Garcia weren't controlled at all, they were contacted in advance by Elysium and they set up a sabotage.
3. The Army was also likely all robots minus a few people who were enthralled by Robot-Rufus.

I read #1 and eh I mean there are realistic dolls and such in their world. I won't read the others but I still wonder how they explain that off.
