If a Zelda game ever again gates me off from exploring an entire area until I bribe a guard with a cartoon mask, I'm probably returning it.

Traditional like LOZ86, with a mostly-open world and a bunch of actual dungeons.

Naw, I'm fine with modernized Zelda 1.

OoT was kind of an open-world game though. At least in 1997 standards. I just want the current open world style with more dungeons, better combat, and no artificial difficulty/filler to pad the game like durability and 700 koroks.

I don't even mind the open world format, just marry it with a more traditional formula. Give us sprawling dungeons again, and give us tools/weapons that we unlock along the way

No, keep the current formula, just overhaul the world so it's not BotW again.

I wouldn't mind smaller scale games keeping the classic style though, like with Link's Awakening.

yes. I dont mind the open world. But bring in normal Temples not mini puzzles. And dont give me all the powers at the first hour of the game.

I think Id enjoy Tears a whole lot more (and Id give it a 9.5) if you got the powers for beating each Temple. So that way if you manage to sneak into somewhere youre not supposed to be it feels far more rewarding.

also put actual treasure in chests and dungeons , bring back heart pieces and remove armor pieces from shops . I hated completing somewhere only to get some meat at the end. When it could have been an armor piece. Tears was better than Breath for this, but not be enough

My favorite 3D version has been Wind Waker. I don't care what anyone says I loved that game. But I also really liked OoT and MM, and even TP.

Even though I know they won't do it I would love a modern high production Zelda from a 2D entry ala A Link to the Past. I'd be pretty excited for that.

I'd be interested in a more classic 2D Zelda format, but without classic limitations. Wider map view, scrolling with character instead of per room.

I do, but I know it's not going to be. Wind Waker was the perfect balance between the styles, and I wish they'd do something like that again.

I would love to have a 2D zelda with puzzles at least on the level of oracle of ages again.

I bought the one they had on the 3DS link between worlds but god damn was that one stupid easy.

Nope. BotW and TotK both blow any other 3D Zelda game out of the water for me. I'm extremely happy with the direction of the series.

i dont get why some folks hate open world Zelda so much.

i loved Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom precisely because of the amount of freedom those games give you but different strokes for different folks i guess...

anyway, i wouldnt mind another open world Zelda personally but give us a new map this time. lol

Weapon durability, lack of enemy variety, terrible dungeons, boring soundtrack and weak story come to mind.
