I kind of assumed it would be like GTA V and Ill use both.

I tend to like playing as female characters more than men. That could be because of 20 years of playing as men exclusively in video games.

Off the top of my head, I think I can count on one hand the amount of female characters I could play as.

Blaze - Streets of Rage
Tyris Flare - Golden Axe
Samus - Metroid
Peach - Mario 2

Am I forgetting anything from the 80's and 90's?

Jill and Claire were in RE1/2 and Bloodrayne as well in the PSX era. Then Joanna Dark in the N64 era.

Point is, not many women were heroines in video games. RPG's tended to have a lot, but they're almost never main characters.

Too early to tell. If one character is more fun or the other has annoying aspects or dialog it would sway me.

I have no real preference, it just depends on if one character grabs me.

The game will probably encourage you to play as both for a mostly equal amount of time. I don't recall playing one character in GTA5 significantly more than the other two. Depends on their abilities too I suppose, if they have them.
