Current Events > Sigh. Grandma going to hospital tomorrow.

Shes been being sick for six months after most meals. Theyve tried everything to diagnose it but gotten nowhere. It would stop for a week then start again.

Shes now at the point shes lost all her weight and is under five stone and dehydrated as she cant even keep water down. Fucking sucks.

Shes going in to try and be rehydrated etc but it wont solve the underlying cause and worries she wont come out again.

Getting old sucks ass. If / when she goes itll be the 4th death of close family or friends in a little over a year.

Dont take your grandparents / family / friends for granted peeps. Having someone die sucks but watching them slowly deteriorate over a period of time sucks even harder. I know others have gone or are going through similar and my heart goes out to you all.

So she had to sleep downstairs because she was too unsteady to make it upstairs. She's still asleep at the moment which is very unlike her. She's not been sleeping well for a long time and barely getting 2 - 3 hours.

Part of me wonders if (perhaps a selfish part of me) she doesn't wake up, would that would be the best for her rather than than going through the fuss of going to hospital and all that. I doubt if \ when she goes in she'll come back out.

*sigh*

Shes in on a drip to assist with the dehydration. Hospitals arent the best places to be imo mentally. Ive found them
incredibly stressful and tiring from the times Ive been there or visited other people. I hope she gets out soon. Its going to depend on if they can get to the underlying cause of her issues. Her side of the family have had a weird history of picking up stomachs cancer at old age and shes already only got one kidney one being dehydrated isnt great at the best of time. Lets see what happens.

:(. i had that happen a few times.

my dad was too damn stubborn to go to the hospital when at the time he was experiencing a stroke. also my cat though that was because i couldn't let her suffer anymore due to abdominal tumor.

Cheers guy. Visited yesterday. She looks very frail and weak. Not able to keep any food or drink down at all. I think I have more of an issue watching people suffer which is why the other deaths of close friends etc who died to cancer always sucked. I really dislike having to see people in that sort of pain but then I have to remember it's not for me it's for them and I just do it and generally feel happy I did afterwards.

Not sure what the prognosis \ timeframes are at the moment. As said before they need to find the underlying cause but as she's so old chances are even if they do there will be nothing feasible that they can offer.

I'm sorry to hear that... I really hope they can find some way to help her.
It's so hard watching someone you care about just waste away. My grandpa had Alzheimer's and it was probably the worst thing I've ever seen as it progressed.
