Did they make it so you can skip the dialogue and non-interactive sequences?

I'd like to see a review on it from someone that loved 2 and was cynical on 3 (in terms of story and powercreep.)

^ I haven't watched any of the YouTuber reviewers yet, but I saw some titles like, "best Diablo yet".

as for the IGN review, they said that while the story is lacking, it's better than Diablo 3's.

1 had about the right length for what was ultimately a semi-isometric roguelite, a sort of proof-of-concept until 2 released.
Grinding for the sake of grinding has never been my kinda crack.
But good for the MMO crowd I guess.

Theres no off line mode? I know that D3 and D2R let you play offline.

There is no offline mode even for console.

Diablo 4 beta was the first time i've ever played and I loved it

gonna be my first diablo. playing it with the bros. excite.

I'm kind of burnt out on the genre as a whole, and don't have the time for MMO like grind, so probably gonna pass.

do we know the endgame yet? because that's all that really matters in this genre.

Game is fun. Honestly, can't wait to romp around with friends and blow up some demons for hours on end.

Is there any conceivable scenario where it isn't a powercreep grind fest with a dog shit pvp system that favors a particular class for eternity?

The endgame is you beating Diablo/otherdemon followed by an expansion. After that, see above. Play the game to run through as each class, anything more is just a 2nd job. It's time to rise above.

Always online even for consoles makes it a 0/10.

"As with any Diablo title, Diablo IV is nowhere near complete once you've rolled credits on the campaign. World Tiers return to incentivize you to go through everything again with a higher degree of difficulty but also more rewards to reap. It's welcome that Diablo IV retains the option that allows you to jump into a more challenging World Tier from the start this time, preventing a potentially frustrating first playthrough devoid of any meaningful challenge. Outside of increasing the World Tier, the map becomes littered with additional side activities that join regular side quests, rotating open-world dynamic quests (similar to patrols in Destiny 2), and Strongholds. These are extremely hostile areas that are densely populated with enemies usually a level or two higher than you, providing a larger challenge to overcome than regular groups of foes around the open-world. Minor objectives also make this feel like smaller-scale, open-air dungeons, with new waypoints and merchants usually unlocked once you've rid the area of the threat. Larger scale world boss fights that are best tackled with numerous other players you will find in the open world are also available, although no multiplayer features were available during the review period.
Whispers of the Dead encapsulate timed bounties that popup throughout the world, with each one rewarding you with an additional currency that can be turned in for caches of gems, weapons, and more. I'll wait for real gamers to get it and let us know how bad the monetization is

From what they announced it's all cosmetics for now. Monetization is a battle pass, every game-impacting is free(basically free XP powder/crafting mats) and all/most of the fancy transmog gear is what you pay for.

Since it's Activision I'm gonna wait a bit to see what monetization they end up adding after the review cycle has died down, like always

It sounded fun to play in the betas but the only thing that makes it stand out now is the lore and story and I don't think ppl who would play this now care about that or the Blizzard name.

I said this before but I surprisingly played Diablo 3 day one, this one just passed me by.

Means the game will suck. Ill pass D3 fooled me once.

Imagine giving an online only video game with confirmed P2W time boosters from Blizzard anything higher than 1/10.

And gamers bitch about $70, live service, gacha, etc. like they deserve better lol

15 days after launch when the bulk of the steam refunds expire.

I've been thinking about preordering but I decided to wait at least a few weeks to see what the endgame reviews are like. if it's all just grinding for slightly bigger numbers on the same items I won't be interested. beta didn't feel fun or inspired enough for that

Ngl... story being lacking could actually mean that this is a solid Diablo. People who think Diablo succeeded cuz of its story has no clue imo

But D2 hasn't aged that well, D3 feels more modern and aged even worse as a result. I think gaming came a bit too far for its style. I'm still pretty skeptical.
