square had the excellent decision to let you name tidus, and as a result whenever someone references him they have to say some dumb shit because they can't just say his name

I actually don't remember that you could name him, I think I just gave him his canonical name and never picked up that others don't use his name.

The actors themselves are fine, the script and direction are what to blame, remember in the intro Tidus narrates like he's an older adult because nobody corrected the VA that he's still supposed to be young?

his opening narration just sounded like him but using a regular inside voice and talking seriously instead of like a puppy turned human, because the game started at technically a very, very serious point in the story and then the game leading to that is a flashback.

I like FFX. There is a LOT to dislike about the game, and #1 on the list may be this.

I don't NEED to name Tidus. Naming Tidus does nothing to increase my immersion in the game, especially since the last time I played I just named him John Madden/ because I looked around the room and the first thing I saw was an old Madden game case for PS2, and I made a typo(PC) and just accepted it.

See, the other FF megabosses ive seen either have multiple strategies or glitches or have one strategy but it's not as stupid as Pennance.

Quick cuts doesn't give you an advantage. You NEED quick cuts. You need to do a lot of stupid shit in a precise order to beat his ass, even with OP characters. It is dumb and insane.

I beat him once but then on another playthrough I did in fact use Yojimbo but I didn't feel like I used and paid him enough to do the deed but he did.

The fuck goes an Aeon even need Gil for anyways?

That's one of my peeves about Fire Emblem Engage. Except in that, sometimes Alear's name is in the dialogue so the VAs just stop midsentence for a second.

bevause he wouldve been Yunas final Aeon, and she gets the option to name every one she gets

That's the correct pronunciation. It's how the name should be pronounced in English (the vowel-consonant-vowel spelling is supposed to make the initial vowel a long vowel). And "Tide"-us makes for a water-related pun, while "Teed"-us is meaningless noise.

The Japanese (or at least the ones working on FF) have a history of ruining names, though. Like naming the hero of FFV Butz. Or screwing up Aeris/Aerith because they can't translate from English for shit.

It's based on a Japanese word, not the English word for laundry soap

Its funny that every other character is pronounced basically the same in Japanese and English and then Tidus just ruins it and makes weird dumb weebs extra annoying about the game. Tie-dus is a real human name! Tee-dus is just weeb pronunciation!
