do you REALLY need to bring your dog to the grocery store and every restaurant you eat at?

I always consider that there are probably people out and about who are deathly allergic to animal hair so I tend to avoid brining them into grocery stores and restaurants.

You kind of have no leg to stand on when it comes to pet stores or parks though.

yeah you can bring your dog to the park and pet stores, that makes sense. and obviously so do service animals. but taking them with you literally everywhere you go is ridiculous. some lady brought her dog into the office a few months ago insane

People are innately ass holes. A few years back when the news ran all those articles about veterans getting kicked out of places for their therapy animals made it so places no longer have animal rules and people just abuse the situation now instead of the legitimate purpose it was supposed to serve.

Better than locking it up indoors and have it barking away all the time.

I would rather it be barking indoors then outdoors. People who leave their dog outside for hours on end and let it bark and cry all day are the worst.

I think it's dumb as hell. I've known enough people at work that are allergic and/or scared of dogs. I love dogs, but why would I force everyone in public to accomodate my dog? And unfortunately, the people that have well-trained dogs that will heel perfectly and cause 0 issues have it all ruined by the other idiots that can't control their dog, can't control them barking, etc.

if you can't train your dog to be alone and not bark then don't get a dog

I mean yeah if folk can't look after a pet they shouldn't have it. Sadly people are dumb. My neighbour locked his dog in the kitchen for hours while him and the wife was at work, went out and whatever. It barked away all the time. Probably felt like a prison for it. I'm not sure if it's still alive as I haven't seen or heard it in a while.

They're desperate attention seekers convinced their animal actually likes all of it.
Really owning a life like a ton of people do just makes me sad. Adopt and take care of an animal is nice, otherwise, let it be.
Reminds me of people defending owning other lives convinced it was the best they'd do anyways.

Puppies (especially toy varieties) can't be left alone. I assume you've never had a dog go through a teething phase before.
Eventually they chill out with age.

yeah my perspective definitely isn't realist - I wish folks with dogs could make sure someone would always be around to take care of them. obviously the modern world kinda fucks with that. hopefully the dog chilled out, or maybe they gave it away. or RIP!

Dogs shouldn't be in most not-pet-themed stores unless it's truly a trained helper animal.

That said, it bums me out that I can't walk my dog to the store that's a quarter of a mile away, buy something small, and walk back. It's stupid but I end up driving instead.

I get sad and think about the life it could be enjoying instead.
Most service dogs can be replaced by medical equipment except for the ones that can like smell seizures and stuff.
Too many people passed emotional support dogs as service dogs as well. Those ones will bite you!

You can ask the service it provides and that's when they usually fall apart. "It, uh...gives me support and makes me happy."
Also, once it barks, or if it goes so far as to snap at someone, it must leave at that point. A service dog will not do that out of nowhere.
They also won't pee, poop, vomit or eat off the floor.

I've called out many disturbed people before with this issue. I mean, you gotta be disturbed to abuse the medical system and a sentient creature and still feel in the right.

i think most people agree that this needs to change and have them require certification and registration

I don't understand why more places don't actually enforce their rules. If I get bit by someone else's dog, I'm suing them, and I'm suing whatever venue allowed this person to bring their pet into the store against the store's policy. You'd think more stores would be cognizant of not setting themselves up for a lawsuit, but apparently not.
