Anyone else discover this recently due to the SuperEyepatchWolf video (or come across it in the past)? Spoiled too much of the first game to justify playing it, but I kept myself from knowledge of the sequel and I'm really enjoying it. This kind of Berserk-style tone is right up my alley.

I'm legitimately disappointed that I didn't discover it on my own. Not sure how I would have, but man the first game's vibe is SO up my alley and I wish I hadn't spoiled myself on so much. Sequel is still 90% up my alley though, combination of Berserk, Majora's Mask, and Silent Hill is some good shit.

SEW's video is enough for me. I don't need to play it but he is so good with videos.

The game gave me LISA the Painful-like vibes. Is that accurate or no not really?

Man the sequel is really getting its hooks into me. Keep planning out routes even when I'm not playing.

I have so many gameplay anecdotes from playing Fear and Hunter 2 but they all sound like mad libs from sociopath. Newest one: "okay, need to go save - oh shit I've been attacked by a mob! Wait, this is perfect, time to shoot up this teenager with drugs so he can fight better! Oh no, I forgot he can't hold the shotgun right now, he's missing an arm!"

It's on hold right now because of TotK, but I've been doing the same thing. Right now I think I've got a good start to a route with playing Karin, recruiting Abella then Levi. I'm waffling about whether I should just start with Levi so I don't have to deal with withdrawal, but then I need to figure out how to build up the party sooner since Karin doesn't seem to want to join up.

This game really gets it's hooks in you, I was definitely spending a lot of time just plotting out routes to get started. I'll need to get back to it soon before I start forgetting things.

I'm curious about how the game changes if you pick Abella as your starting character. Her being a free early party member was so vital to me making any progress at all.

As for what you're considering, I tried out every character before settling on one and Levi seemed like the worst, but I didn't try getting super far with him so many his abilities get better.

I picked Olivia as my starter, which has had its ups and downs.
Positives: Herb mixing is super useful. If enemies target your legs it doesn't matter. Bear traps go from run enders to annoyances.
Negatives: Fuck stairs. If you lose both arms it's an instant game over.

Levi seems like an early game crutch character. Starting him with a rifle makes some of initial encounters much easier but Karin with Lockpicking/Escape Plan/Diplomacy seems like it will be much better long term. But yeah I didn't look at his higher level gun skills so maybe he starts being able to reliably shoot enemies in the head or something.

But honestly Diplomacy is just so good for information gathering that I want to keep running her for now, getting a free turn to try talking lets me find options that actually work without burning actual turns.

Karin and Daan were my secondary choices. Persuade seems incredible and Daan gets access to a bunch of free healing items and information. O'saa is probably good as well, although I didn't feel like using a mage type dude.

The biggest tip I would give new players is to read any information they get about the gods (specifically the Skin Bibles), and anything about the chalk rune drawings you occasionally stumble across. Those can be a big deal.

25 hours into the game now. My party is really coming together. I've found a bunch of tricks to stack the deck in my favor. Where I once ran from anything that looked at me funny, I now fear nothing. The streets run red with the blood of my enemies.

Then I stepped on a landmine and died.

Confidence is a slow and insidious killer.

LISA was the first thing I thought of too, yeah. It's an extremely edgy game with dismemberment and scarcity as game mechanics.

I think it's too cheesy, am I completely alone in this? I don't think the creator had the artistic skill to pull off what he intended. Like the thing that drove this home is the nonstandard game over where that one spooky guy in the hallway captures you and cuts off your arms, legs, and wiener. That's an example of a scene that would've been a lot better in LISA. I lost interest shortly thereafter.

But like no one is talking about that so maybe i shouldnt care lol

Not sure if cheesy is exactly the word I'd use but my reaction from reading the game's Steam page was "this sounds cool but I'm getting a weird vibe from it" and then after reading a couple reviews that mention specific scenes "lol definitely not for me, actually". It seems like a good time if you can look past that stuff though!

Not gonna say there isn't trial and error but it's...well, it's the good kind. Like you're exploring a game world and learning how it ticks. Then you apply that knowledge elsewhere and new stuff doesn't surprise you as much as it would have.

Had some free time so I finished the game over the last few days. Has some endgame balance issues (in the player's favor) but was overall a very engrossing experience. Solid 9/10

Tried out the appropriately-named Masochism Mode and...yeah that one isn't for me lol. Was worth a shot. Guess it's a good indictment of the game that I played for 35 hours, got 2/3 endings, and still have a craving for more. Maybe I'll just do my best to forget everything I know about the first game and try it out anyway.
