There was some complication where WB was maybe going to sell its games division and then that didnt happen, but that may have been a factor in them not doing Injustice 3. It wasnt clear if theyd still be under the same umbrella as DC for a while.

Yup! Deception and Armageddon had a more open world kind of deal. Honestly, Street Fighter 6 seems pretty inspired from it from Deception, since you would go around chatting to masters and learning their moves in that game.

What made me stay a MK fan for such a long time were games like Deadly Alliance and Deception, which I have to guess are most people's idea of the dark ages for MK. I just find it hard to get behind all this retreading the past; rebooting it once was one thing but to basically do yet another reboot after just 3 games is really painful to me.

It's kinda like these topics I've been seeing for Tekken on this board, trailers for the characters because someone has been making a topic each time one dropped. And it was always this really old character that getting excited over proves really difficult for me. I liked the mix of old and new with Deadly Alliance and Deception, and to some extent they recaptured that feeling with the last couple of games too. Back in those days, people would hope and pine for old returning favorites because sometimes they'd be out a game or two and then you'd have new character to get to know. I feel like this game might lack that, though I hope they still manage to introduce new fighters still. My MK fandom waned when they did Armageddon and introduced all that resetting the clock hocus pocus, and it never really recovered.

I enjoyed DA/Deception well enough at the time, but the cast of new characters was definitely more miss than hit

but still, there were hits and it sucks that so few of them have appeared since 9.

like Kenshi should just be a series staple at this point. And it sucks that Havik still hasnt come back at all. I even thought Mavado was pretty cool, Id like to see him get a proper roster slot

But yeah, there were a lot of duds there. Just some boring ass characters. People still clamor for more Reiko, Nitara, Havik, and Ashrah though.

People also really liked Onaga as a boss, but he's supposed to be in this game somehow.

Since there are two evil Superman counterparts in the DLC, I'm hoping Brandon Breyer from Brightburn will be added in future to take it up to 3.

I kinda doubt they'll want to animate fatalities on a 12 year old lol.
