you can't even activate towers until you get the glider so yeah I strongly recommend that

You get the glider almost immediately in the main quest so yeah you should really do it. <_<

On the other hand, I've mostly been ignoring the Depths. I've been coming across maps here and there for Depths stuff, so I feel like I have little incentive to go there right away... should I change that?

Also I wish I knew what I was supposed to do in Kakariko. Do I have to do something else to get the other guy to let me into the Ring Ruins?

I am embarrassingly stuck at the mine cart track with a hole in it.

im sure I can eventually luck across it with hooks but its kind of funny how Im struggling to find the correct solution here

I solved it by putting two fans on the back of the cart and being fast. It was first try, and I didn't even know one of the rails went out lol

I don't know what to do to unlock Kakariko village. I mainly want to get rid of the fog of war for the area and so far can't do anything other than sidequests in this region. I've only beaten the Rito region and have given up on Kakariko and went to Goron city now. I also hate the depths, the constant need to pull out the light seeds really suck.

The only clue to unlocking Kakariko for me is doing Josha's depth research. The old guy working for her mentions that his lab is in the Necluda area and will only be allowed to go back if I help Josha. I want to get his old ass back to this lab so I can get an upgrade for my Switch to detect shrines >_>

Definitely had to look up how to use the device dispener

They tell you to put certain materials in the thing but not HOW to do that. Pissed me the fuck off before I finally stumbled into it when I needed to make food to get through the cold section. You have to HOLD stuff... I don't remember them explaining that and it's been a long time since I played BotW, so I didn't remember. Seems like you always want to maximize your inputs (5) to get the most rewards.

Finished the opening area, though I didn't beat that optional boss. Took the big jump and it was pretty neat marking some points of interest during the fall.

I'm also on the fence about the building stuff. In theory it's neat but I found some of it to be a bit finicky, like when I was trying to get a hook on something at a right angle. Also, the framerate is fucking awful when moving some objects around!

Oh, I got that one accidentally. I wondered how you were supposed to know it was there, but I see the leaves now.

My "when in doubt, glue stuff together to make the longest thingy you can" approach has now solved two shrines in ways I'm pretty sure they weren't supposed to be solved

I haven't gotten to the 3rd shrine yet and I have 4 Bubbul Gems. Looks like there's one of these guys in each cave.

Also at 12 Korok seeds so I'll let you know my count once I finish this Garden.

Did BotW automatically mark on the map where you found things like Korok seeds? I feel like the answer is no but maybe they added that with the DLC that I didn't play?

They did mark them, but you could only see the marks if you were on the fully zoomed-in level of the map.

This feels like a really dumb question: how the hell do you get out of wells? You cant climb back up most of them because of the shape of the rocks.

And five second after posting this I remembered you have the ability to go through ceilings.

Holy shit I love how Breath and Tears are bringing back old enemies. Fucking loved seeing that Gleeok on Hylia Bridge. Absolutely not ready to fight it though

Floormasters are fucking terrifying.

Okay, finally leaving the Great Sky Island with 18 Koroks though had to return after leaping off to get the last one

I feel like I'm gonna be loving this after I re-familiarize myself with the controls. Like BotW, this is a game that uses every button on my pro controller, and not really in the most intuitive ways.

Yeah I left sky island with like 6

This is the sort of game where I feel like it will be a lot less fun if I treat it as a colectathon

Best moment of the game so far: got to the end of a cave, and used Ascend to get out, since I thought I'd check out a new area of the surface. Saw a Lynel and immediately retreated back down.

Agreed. And it makes me wish I had even more buttons! Particularly a dedicated Ultrahand button.

If you go into wells you can find sticky lizards which helps you cling

yeah, that. Sticky Lizard plus monster parts.

4 sticky lizards + a monster part (any of them works as long as the description says it helps with elixirs)

[4x any of those insects/frogs that give speed/warm/cold/electric protection] + monster part = decent potion

5x Sundelions = heals against gloom damage

The higher rarity of the monster part the higher quality potion. Hinox parts or those Frozen/Lava lizard enemies give something 10 minute buffs.

What the heck do the weapon icons mean on the weapon pause screen? Like I know it means there's a weapon attached, but specifically the green and yellow and different colors, what do those mean?

those indicate spear grip, two-handed grip, or one-handed grip, which determines whether you can hold a shield and also what type of charge attack it uses

they don't have anything to do with whether an item is fused

The color changes based on durability. I don't know all the colors, but purple is good, blue is okay, and orange is low.

Nope, two-handed is always orange, one-handed is always blue, spear is always purple

durability is kind of denoted though not by those icons. If something has its full durability it will have a shining sparkle on its picture, and if it is low it will pulse red. Theres also non-decayed versions of weapons, which get a star next to their name

I really hate this goron ability and temple. This thing is even more annoying than the OoT Water Temple.

They're like egg lights

if youre referring to wha ti think youre referring to, you should try lifting it. Theyre basically overworld shrines, you have to transport the Crystal to a designated location.

Oh wait does that even protect you from lightning or is that just electric attacks?

I just always keep a couple of nonconductive weapons on me for thunder storms.

I finished the main sidequest in Hateno. If you thought the Gerudo outfit in BotW generated a lot of porn, hoo boy, you're in for a treat.

Got fed up with doing the goron temple legit without spawning Zonai items. Ended up spawning a bunch of springboards and stacking them then using that to let me paraglide to all the switches. Hopefully the Zora and Gerudo temples don't have particle effects that make the game go 15fps the entire time...
