I thought it was alright. Good action and story and ridiculously good graphics in some scenes (meh in others but that's normal). Dialogue was pretty clunky though imo. The animals had far better chemistry than the main cast. They killed it every scene and were basically a Disney movie, which is why they made us cry.

Also Drax and Gamora were chastized hard for merely joking about killing 1 person, by people who went on to kill dozens. There was also that final battle scene where they had a whole speech about saving people, then immediately massacred 50 people. This kind of dissonance is in so many Disney action movies now. I'm really losing my tolerance for it.

Also really weird thing is how the high evo's 2nd in command only revolted after he said God doesn't exist.

I guess it didn't strike me as odd at the time because I was riding off an emotional high, but yeah looking back on it it was a bit messed up how none of HE's soldiers were spared by the Guardians and Gamora. Didn't he make them too? They didn't have a choice in the matter of whether to serve HE, and it just comes across as odd especially in juxtaposition to Groot saving Warlock and Drax saying everyone deserves a second chance. Why wasn't War Pig (only mentioning her because she was the only one namedropped in the movie that I can recall) amongst other abominations part of the "everyone" too, like damn?

Also really weird thing is how the high evo's 2nd in command only revolted after he said God doesn't exist.

That one didn't bother me as much. Plenty of people will work for someone who is acting like a complete turd if they believe the ends justify the means. I guess she just snapped upon realizing she'd essentially been indoctrinated into a shady cult and not working toward an actual paradise. That or maybe she was religious?

I just thought she finally saw how pathetic the HE really was about his vendetta against one raccoon.

Yeah there were a lot of good reasons for her to do it, but doing it right after that particular line was strange. I wouldn't be surprised if evangelicals were like YES! KILL THE ATHEIST!!

Just saw it yesterday.

Yeah Engame didn't get me but pretty much every Rocket scene did, a lot of eye watering when his friends got shot and when they reunited in the sky. I expected the fake out but that scene was still moving. I'm a big Rocket fan, which makes it all even more emotional

Great film

Finally saw it tonight. My God, the Lylla/Floor/Teefs death scene was one of the most genuinely... upset I've ever been during a movie. That's going to have me shaken for a bit.

I knew the Rocket fake-out death was a fake-out but I fell for the Quill one.

Absolutely excellent movie.

Hmm, now that I think about it, know what I'm surprised didn't get a bigger reaction, at least in my theater (which was admittedly like 25ish people)? "I love you guys."

I felt like Groot was underused. Especially since he is Rocket's closest friend, and the film was about the later.

this is 100% what i thought during that scene, yeah. rather weird.

also, i didn't like the kraglin/cosmo subplot. it was so fucking obvious that there was going to be a "she's a GOOD dog!" resolution, it was ridiculous.

the ending kind of gave me Return of the Jedi vibes, with no main good guys being dead and everyone happily dancing.

but yeah, good movie overall. definitely a ton better than 2 (i never got the love for that one). not sure if i would put it ahead of 1.

(sorry for necrobumping, i only recently saw this movie)

Almost as ridiculous as this complaint HEY-O

I'm glad they didn't kill anyone off. Any of those deaths would have been worthless in the frame of the film, aside from potentially Rocket's.

i dont think they were trying to fool anyone here, it was just a cute little running gag. barely qualifies as a subplot at all

This. It was just a gag to let the characters show personality. I thought it was cute.

I love the movie as well. Though the part with Rocket's friends was really predictable but it's still pretty endearing.

I'm just really happy to see more of Mantis, my favorite MCU character.
