Love me some XCOM, and it was 50% off over St Patrick's day on steam so I pulled the trigger and got the big ol deluxo edition.

It's a shame this thing seems to have not sold well because I love everything about it. The gameplay loop is both simple and deceptively in-depth and the story is way better than it has any right to be for a rando marvel license.

I knew absolutely nothing about Nico and Magik going into this and by Act II they are by far my favorite characters. Is that Runaways show any good, because I want some more Nico. I guess I should also ask about New Mutants since Magik is in that, but I'm pretty sure that got universally panned.

Anyway. Good game. Buy it so maybe we can get more games like it.

I was considering getting this at launch until they announced the DLC character packs. That killed all of my hype and now I'm waiting for the full game to be released so I can buy it on a sale or something.

I don't replay games so I'd prefer to play the game when all of the content is actually released.

I think the last character comes out at the end of this month.

Good to know! I remember when Deadpool got released there were some articles on gaming sites but I didn't hear anything about Venom or Morbius getting released. April - June are crazy for games though, might have to wait until after summer.

Deadpool was end of Jan, Venom end of Feb, Morbin end of Mar, so I only assume Storm will be this month.

Yeah that character pack was one of the reasons I held off on getting it originally because they weren't slated to come out anytime soon, but I'm guessing given everyone's reactions they hurried it

I haven't seen the show, but the original comic run of Runaways was superb. After the original story arc wrapped up it seemed like the writers weren't sure what to do with it, so just threw ideas and characters at the wall to see what stuck, but it was still fun.

Then it went on a long hiatus during which Marvel apparently lost interest in everyone but Nico (I believe at one point half the case were slated to be killed off in some Battle Royale knockoff miniseries, but the fans revolted). I think they revived/rebooted it after that, but I haven't read any of the newer stuff.

I got it on sale recently too, but am maybe going to hold out a few weeks for Storm to release

I'll be biting the next time it's on a good sale after Storm is released. It seems to go on sale pretty frequently, so I doubt it'll be a long wait.

In the game it confirms early on that at the very least Alex and Gert are both dead. Not sure whether that's consistent with the comics or not.

I love the idea of the staff using word-based magic, with each word only being able to be used once. It's such a DnD item

And trying to find ways to cheat the system, yeah. It's so unique with its applications. Awesome aesthetic + awesome powers = I want to consume more of this media.

So I've been trying to go the route of the dark path for Hunter but it seems like for almost everyone (except Magik) that results in negative friendship

Feels like this path is kinda sabotaged given that friendship building is so crucial to getting stronger

I own the game, my computer cannot run the game, I dearly want to play the game.

Thankfully I've had Trails to Azure to hold my attention for the past month, but I think I'm going to be jonesing for it again soon.

I don't know too much ghost rider lore but this blaze is just an absolute asshole so far and I'm here for it.

This is on my short list for after Storm dlc comes out.

I'm starting to max out friendships and get legendary skills and it's a whole new ballgame.

Steam updated with new achievements so storm should be incoming.

Just unlocked Deadpool

I'm not sure how I feel about playing as him though. Is he bad or am I just not getting him? You have to get multiple kills with him pretty much every round to build up his meter, but then he's almost guaranteed to drop down to 0 at the end of every turn because every hit knocks him down, and there's rarely rounds without taking several hits

I also just unlocked him

his area of effect attack seems super weak for 2 heroism. I dunno.

also ghost rider seems kind of bad so far. Maybe theres better cards for him I just need to unlock, but that would require using Ghost Rider more and I dont really want to do that.

Deadpool is better after you unlock more cards. Base Deadpool sucks.

Ghost Rider also needs more cards to be effective. I always replace the car with something.

Where I am now (based on the name of the next story mission, I appear to be entering the Wolverine zone),my MC kicks ass (especially now that I unlocked a better collar and a passive), Nico is very strong, Blade seems good, and the others are all some degree of decent

except GR and probably DP

it's difficult for me to not just play as characters I like the most so I almost always end up having at least one of Ghost Rider/Nico/Magik on my team

like I just had my MCs hands disappear during a cutscene when she was stabbing a sword into someone

Yeah, I don't think I've had that many issues like that either. I haven't played in a minute though, so maybe some things broke in the recent two updates.

oh yeah, thats a constant. The characters out training in the yard are doing it at like 5 fps. It looks like Captain Marvels head pops off her body sometimes.

this is far from the only game to render distant background people at lower quality, but I feel like the distance at which the game considers them distant is abnormally short

I have to wonder if they were pressured to include him by Marvel because of the movie, or if they included him based on an expectation that the movie would be more successful but either way, he fits the game pretty well and I like his characterization here. And he plays better than Deadpool.

I feel like if you're doing a whole sidequest revolving around vampyres, Morbin Time is a fine choice.

I haven't finished his questline but I like how he plays and he seems to fit in at the Abbey. Good enough for me.

I've been considering the same thing, doing mostly side missions

Like I just had the first appearance of Wolverine and Sabertooth and would've liked to have heard her comments (assuming she would be available at that point in the story)

so far the DLC characters have each been unlockable after the previous one in the story, Im assuming Storm wont actually be available until later in the game than that first Wolverine appearance, since shell have to be after you can unlock Venom

actually I think I just hit the point where I can get Venom, so maybe Ill check that out next

also Im expecting Wolverine will be required in the party for at least one of the Storm missions, so its probably safe to progress the story until Wolverine moves into the abbey.

I just got to the start of Part III and am that seems like a good pausing point until Storm comes around. I enjoy the gameplay loop enough to where I'll just focus on getting people swole.

It really is stunning how well they nailed all of these characters. Nobody sounds corny, out of character, or existing just to quip or whatever. They all feel like completely fleshed out characters and as much as Hunter gains a lot of character from talking to them, they show a lot more character talking to her.

I absolutely love the comm channel stuff. Actual hilarious jokes are there, and nearly everyone gets a chance to be funny there. Even Cap has some good jokes too.

Edit: Also, Morbius has an awful blood disease that made going outdoors, especially for something leisurely like tanning, very difficult.

I've seen a few people predict that the base game will be in next month's Humble Choice (to try and get people who'll buy the season pass when the last DLC lands), so I'll wait and see if they guessed right, and if not buy the LE on Tuesday.
