I wish we could play mods on consoles

There are some pretty great mods for the game including one that really feels like it was made by the main developers where you play the bosses of the game. Now obviously you can't typically play these on console but if you do play Slay the Spire on PC or any number of PC handhelds you can utilize them.

I assume the developer might be working on a new game though, we just haven't heard about it yet.

I love this game. Would definitely buy a sequel ASAP

i even put out a bounty for anyone who could figure out how to port a mod to the switch version of the game running on modified hardware, there was interest for it happening but i don't think anyone would want to attempt it even for money

If you need more deckbuilders heres my top 5:

1. Slay The Spire
2. Monster Train (STS meets tower defense)
3. Inscryption (more simplifed STS meets Yugioh)
4. One Step from Eden (STS meets Megaman Battlenetwork)
5. Ratropolis (Deckbuilder meets Kingdom)

Hard confirm

as soon as you try to over complicate the genre, it just ruins it

sts is simple in appearance but complex in its intricacies if you so choose to engage in them, and it's because of this that it works

it is very much a game that eases you into things at the correct pace without throwing 900 different mechanics at you at once

Nowhere Prophet and Griftlands are both cool

It involves Java so you're looking at a port of the jvm

You'd be better off running Linux on it and running it that way.

I really do suck at deck building games. When I saw the Downfall expansion mod in the workshop, my first thought was "damn, that's impressive. I definitely want to check it out."

But then it dawned on me that I would suck so hard playing it anyway, why bother if I can't even master the fundamentals lol

Grift lands is a fun game. A little unfair at times but I think it's worth playing if you really enjoy StS

I really liked One Step from Eden. Course I often used a glitch I found that would trivialize the game.

I actually never see that glitch talked about, so I'm not even sure if other people know about it.

Monster train copies a lot of the same mechanics directly like thorns, rage, etc, They're so similar I don't know how you could like one and not the other.

What glitch is that? I'll probably refuse to use it because for example, in Inscryption, I found out you could keep reloading the game and you would get the exact same card choices for awards even after a reroll. Yeah I could take the least of the worst cards but I think it ruined my enjoyment after a while of constant reloading.

It's been a while since I've played, but it has to do with that Stopwatch ability that slows time. After you use it, if you pause at just the right moment when time is returning to normal speed, the entire rest of the battle will continue in slow motion, unless the game speed is modified again by some other skill.

The glitch can also be done with abilities that freeze time entirely rather than slowing it, but instead of being slightly slowed down, the game slows to an absolute crawl. Seconds become minutes.

Rogue's Tale is a good roguelike... ... that has a slay the spire mini-game in it that is unrelated to the main game

That kinda cool. Sounds like it would make the game unfun to play after a while though. Never did anything like that but I remember once I made a deck that had an absurd amount of snow storms, hail and Fimbulvetr. I had so much spamming the screen that the game kept slowing down more and more so that it eventually came to a crawl and at one point became unplayable. I think I had gone on a few loops.

Eh I did that with Hands of Fate. Some of those achievements would be impossible to get without doing that.
