that's how it's stylized, yeah

just sans the fins, because apparently entry grade kits don't get the full fat gundam. though not everything gets everything regardless. a lot of kits get sword handles but no actual swords, instead the manual is like "works with spares if u have any!"

like would it have been so hard to throw in a three cent tray of sword beams. i do have spares, but jesus christ i had to go out of my way to get them, and they're only one color and i like multiple colors!

speaking of entry grade kits, weirdly, the entry grade i'm doing right now, the white pieces on it are very faintly tinged seafoam green. i like to do entry grades in between the bigger kits just as something easier i can do, and i also use the eg ones to try different paneling methods because i'm bad at that and definitely need to practice on stuff

also they're super cheap ($10-13) and work as just fodder to have on hand to set up any battle scenes with the existing kits if i were to want to do that

You could paint it a metallic or glossy red

that's not the same

and i legit looked for eg grunt suits yesterday for specifically that reason, but no, there's only hg or higher

I'm headed to Japan in a couple of weeks and I was so annoyed that they were originally going to close this exhibit as of last month. "Yes, let's spend a bunch of money building a life-size working Gundam during the pandemic, when no one can come and visit, then close it as soon as the borders reopen! Brilliant!"

Fortunately, they thought better of it and now it's open until next year.

gray is much more subtle than black or tan

though it made his face look all shadowy and villainous

used regular black on the weapons as it stood out more

and it's bad. i had to use black because gray doesn't show up much on red, nor did it even seem to want to mark the red plastic, it was weird like the marker was dry but it's not, just used it on rx78 perfectly fine and that was the first time ever using it. could be a bard marker, but i doubt it because i went back to the 78 and the gray worked just fine again, so, weird plastic that only the black marker was allowed to mark

and due to intricacies and weird shapes, i couldn't really get my fingers in there to rub the ink to soften it and get it off of things it shouldn't be on, so it's just kinda

idk, i think next pg or even mg ig, i do i will panel before even taking the parts out of the tray

overall it does look better paneled than not.

You can use a cotton bud with a little alcohol to clean up smudgy panel lines

A lot of people also use lighter fluid because it dries so quickly
