Most scum masters have to be extroverts and that is the complete opposite of what I am. I am a tech lead though, so there is that.

I got very tired of words like 'scrum', 'waterfall' and 'agile' in my planning class, or whatever the hell that was. It all seemed like learning manager-speak to get worse at communicating. It seemed like business people observed some successful tech teams/companies and tried to put their interpretation of how they worked into words. The dumbass prof we had for it was the head of the department and late for every single fucking class.

The basic premise is fine but I'm less sold on how well it works in large organization and yeah it is just a whole new pile of business-speak.

I am a software architect and I manage our weekly groom so I guess that makes me partly a scrum master.

Nobody else found any value in weekly grooming sessions so I said I would do it because I find value in them.

You should have weekly retrospectives / planning sessions. It is very important to have an iterative development methodology.

AKA weekly meetings that incorporate a review of the prior week and planning for the next week. Instead of telling people to be 'iterative', how about 'consistent'? We're going to review everything in our meeting that we typically do. Yes, iteration is important. Layering on managerial speak to your staff, I'd argue less so.

nah the architect drafts up blueprints based on what they think would look pretty, then the engineers tell the architect he designed something that's structurally impossible

Iteration is a very important principal to software design. You do not want to write software that can not easily be replaced. I know a lot of older engineers that really struggle with this concept and get stuck in old 90s mindsets even when they hear words like agile.

Been a formal job title for decades but ok? The wikipedia page for Software Architect started in 2005. I don't know what you would call someone in a position above Principal. Literally the person on the team who architects the software.
