you'd have to be a really careless driver to accidentally run over an animal.

disagree

Rural driving at night. Deer will jump out from fields or off hillsides. You have no chance to react. Possums and skunks also get spooked and will run directly into the paths of cars.

I've hit 3 deer in my life and each one I was going 45 or faster with no chance to react. They utterly destroy the front of cars too.

How many insects have you killed while driving?

And there are loads of areas where dumb fuck deers bolt into roads, too.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

maybe just don't speed as much. if I see deer sign I don't go near 50 mph just because the road is clear.

This seems really easy to say for any of us who haven't run over an animal.

If it actually happens to you it will probably be a small animal running out from the opaque cover of a grassy ditch. You might not even have a chance to adjust your steering before you hear the bump.

The reason people hit deer isn't because they didn't respect the deer sign, it's because one of us bolted in front of your car in the dead of night from the cover of thick trees right next to the road.

This. The backroads on the way to my parents' house are extremely dark, curvy, and very busy. It's a deathtrap

Rural driving at night.

It doesnt even have to be rural, just forested to any degree.

Youre probably safe if you live in the desert or somewhere like Kansas
