you should watch the first three. Theyre super easy watches. Youll be lost in the story without them

Youre gonna be a little lost in the sauce when it comes to the plot. But if you just wanna see some crazy action fights, you will be golden.

I would rec watching the first 3 if you can. They are probly on HBO max or something.

I haven't seen 4 yet, but if you're just trying to watch Keanu Reeves kill dudes in cool ways, I feel like it shouldn't be a problem.

You'll probably be just fine since the movies at their core are really just action porn, but you should be aware at least the first three movies follow almost directly after the previous one to create one long narrative, so they're not going to explain a lot in the fourth movie about the world or the rules and you may get a little lost whenever people aren't just murdering each other.

I watched it. It did make very little sense but I got the gist of the players even if I dont know their back stories. It was fun.

Why not just watch the others first? Seems weird to me.

Just watch it, fans of series will make you do homework and when you have a mountain to catch up, you might choose not to. If you enjoy it, just go back and start again

Theyre worth watching, theyre all on peacock right now which is pretty cheap I think

Personally, I still wouldn't do it. I take my movies too seriously. But I know I am extreme in my purity.

I have a buddy who wouldn't have seen a single John Wick movie if I hadn't asked him to watch the second one with me cause I didn't want to go alone. Now he loves the series!

Asking someone to watch 3 whole movies first to see something they're only mildly interested in is a tall ask.

No matter the situation, I would attempt to watch them first or I simply wouldn't go. I have too much respect for the movies I go see to ever do otherwise. Once again, I know I am extreme about this.

While the series isn't plot heavy not watching at least the 2nd or 3rd movie will leave someone confused since those two movies set up the world of John Wick.

Iron man made 500mil. Avengers endgame 3 bil almost. People may eventually have gone back and watched in order but iron man 1 doesnt have to be your starting point

And almost every single one of those people that watched Endgame had watched Iron Man whether in the theater or more likely at home by that point.

If you just want the mindless action, you can skip the others and just watch it.

You will have absolutely no idea who anybody is, what theyre doing, or why theyre doing it, as each of the movies stories absolutely play into each other.

I would highly recommend watching the other movies first, but they arent strictly necessary given that the main pull is still the over the top action. If thats all you want, then go ahead and just have fun with the movie.

He could just read a plot summary, people. But he already saw the movie.

That is a waste of good movies too IMO. But I like doing "homework". I actually will watch movies from a director I missed out on before watching a new movie. So I do this with acclaimed directors in addition to franchises. I find it fun, but I am a cinephile.
