Is that something I can do in real life?

Say I just want a birdseye view for funsies. Is anyone gonna stop me or can I just find the staircase and go to the roof? Maybe a hospital or very tall apartment complex.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Im seriously considering going to see the set up for myself one these days. There's no good ground level views in my city. Plus, it would become my secret place. Even if I got caught, I have a clean record as an adult and Id probably just get a slap on the wrist. By then, I might of used it enough to justify the price anyway.

Id probably go to a apartment building. Cause if an alarm goes off my anxiety might make me explode at a hospital. Im gonna stand there and actually out myself to not complicate things. I mean, Id lie about why I set it off and just claim I got lost or was having a panic attack and mistook the door. But, I wouldn't want to overcomplicate everything for people in the building by not giving them any answer.

I try to be respectful when I do stuff Im not supposed to. Some laws are worth pushing and just taking the punishment if you get caught. Trespassing is one those loose rules. All depends where it is

Wdit: I need to figure out how to stop attempting to derail my own topics. I just wanna know the building stuff.

Is this common in NYC? I saw a video of an apartment in NYC and the guy walked to the roof and said it was accessible.

watching anime as a kid, I always wondered why the students were always on their school's rooftop. I'm like "you can't do that in my school!"

I've been on the roof to my uncles condo in St. Petersburg. We drove in from out of state and the first thing he did was take us upstairs and showed off his roof access. Weird flex but it was a nice view right off the water/3rd street.

Probably. I live in the Midwest in a city of around 30,000. It's mostly 2 story homes. So, it would be way a lot easier to keep track of the actual tall buildings if the attempt is made. But yeah, I feel like an apartment building is my best bet and I got one in mind.

Ive been on the top of smaller schools you can scale. But I never used a door. I use to be into tagging as a teen. So, I got really use to scaling buildings. At 33, it wouldn't be so easy. I can feel the weightlessness in my body when I climb high trees now and it makes me more liable to fuck up.

My 7 story apartment had roof access from a ladder that pulled down from the ceiling. It was too high for me to reach, but if I could, I didn't see a lock or anything.

The trick is to run off the wall next to it and do a backflip and that somehow makes you in the perfect position to grab the ladder.

Thought about it, but it was in the stairwell, so if I miss the ladder, I fall down about 8 feet onto concrete steps

You do a roll when you hit the stairs and you're fine.

It's pretty normal in a regular city from my experience. Not here where I live, but I've been on rooftops in Chicago, LA, Seattle etc.

I tried to go to the rooftop at my old workplace. I couldn't find the way up there. I think that you need to use a special maintenance ladder or elevator behind a locked door that regular employees don't have access to.

One time me and my sister used the regular elevator in the Ann Arbor UofMH and it opened up to people working on computers with a bunch of equipment and shit and we were like "oops, wrong floor". I always wondered why that area was so easily accessible.

documentary about how easy it is to get to the rooftops of buildings in asia. watched it back in 2016 so kind of forgot some details. for hongkong they said the alarms went off like 50% of the time. iirc japan was the strictest.

not in documentary but they also did the same thing in India and they got deported

Id do this in my teens. But now I just want a flat rooftop lol. I did a lot of rail walking and stand shimmying when I graffitied. I wasn't super good artistically. So, I tried to make up for it by getting to spots that would impress. Im very thin and it made it easy to move my body around. Nowhere near that high. But definitely high enough to kill me if I slipped. Like 3 stories to cement. Probably a painful death even lol. My nerves are nowhere near what they use to be with heights.

yeah when i watched this documentary a few years ago i legit thought one of them was going to die soon. that said they've toned this shit down once they reached their early 30s lol

i've done some building climbing as a teen with my friends. never got too into it though because my hands were always sweaty af and made it tough to climb some surface. never anything more than 3 stories tho. had a friend that had to get a replacement for his cheek because he fell off something that was only like 10 ft high. i assume face first but i didn't see it because i was somewhere else out of view but i heard the screaming from my other friends. terrible man.

I worked as a service technician at my previous job. I often had to go on rooftops. A lot of buildings had them completely unlocked. In fact, the only one off the top of my head that was locked was a dealership. And I think just one at that.

Naw. I live vicariously through Yakuza like everyone else for that.

Yeah. My 20s were immediately humbling with different ailments. Though I was still climbing 20-30 feet into trees and hanging from one arm to give people anxiety tho. Id purposely snap a branch under my foot and act like I was actually in danger. Pretty immature, but Id probably do it again. My mom became desensitized to it.

Back in high school we used to try and find buildings where we could access the roof. There was a nice one right in the center of town overlooking everything where we'd go up and smoke weed but they put a lock on the door eventually.

We use to steal alcohol out the back of a bar until they did that. They were so careless, they were putting alcohol on the other side of an unlocked door. You didn't even have to step inside the building. Word got around and we all blew up the spot though.
