Legislation moving in the Florida House would ban discussion of menstrual cycles and other human sexuality topics in elementary grades.

The bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Stan McClain would restrict public school instruction on human sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases and related topics to grades 6 through 12. McClain confirmed at a recent committee meeting that discussions about menstrual cycles would also be restricted to those grades.

So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in 5th grade or 4th grade, will that prohibit conversations from them since they are in the grade lower than sixth grade? asked state Rep. Ashley Gantt, a Democrat who taught in public schools and noted that girls as young as 10 can begin having periods.

It would, McClain responded.

The GOP-backed legislation cleared the House Education Quality Subcommittee on Wednesday by a 13-5 vote mainly along party lines. It would also allow parents to object to books and other materials their children are exposed to, require schools to teach that a persons sexual identity is determined biologically at birth and set up more scrutiny of certain educational materials by the state Department of Education.

This seems incredibly cruel and short sighted.

Anyone who relates a Menstrual Cycle strictly to sex is a moron.

It's a biological thing that occurs in 99.99999~% of females. It's not sexual. They're telling little girls to bleed in their chair because they can't tell an adult they're having an emergency.

What kind of fucked up misogynistic bullshit is this? They best ban anything related to an erection and give every boy with a clear boner a detention with the oldest, grossest teacher they have.

Fuckin' bullshit.

11-12 is around the time they start hitting puberty so I assume so. Banning al talk about it just seems like a way for the adults to avoid having to deal with the talk themselves.

Yea... theyre biologically Male, but a woman. You literally discredited everything you said after that with that statement.

Sex: Male or Female
Gender: Man or Woman.

calling somebody a transphobe is a trap card when somebody doesn't feel like talking to you and they want to summon the mods to suspend you since they don't actually read what's going on

I'm probably going to be suspended just for this post even though I had no input on the actual convo. just to insuate people cry wolf just to get a mod involved is enough to be modded.

who knows why they mod things, we certainly aren't going to hear any kind of explanation or rational behind it from them .
If that's your takeaway after what he said, you're both trolling. He literally said as the first statement in that post "They're still men" as though identifying as a woman doesn't matter, then backtracked to "I don't cate though" but felt the need to point it out in the first place. Why do that?

Give me one solid reason to point out that a trans woman is biologically male outside of medical reasons (this conversation has nothing to do with medical reasons, as the question asked was "what other kind of woman are there".

Please, elaborate. I want to learn as much as I can.

I'm posting just to test if my post history and just standing next to a conversation like this is enough to get me modded. I don't know the rules because I literally asked and they wouldn't tell me

Yeah, but schools dont talk about it before then.

I live in CT. A blue state. The first talk of periods is in 6th grade and is very lacking. They have another class in 8th and they didnt even go into how to use condoms. BTW I think they taught it better 30+ years ago when I had it because sure as hell my parents didnt discuss jack with me. I have no hang ups so I filled in the blanks with my kids.

So everyone up in arms here should actually find out when their own states discuss it. Its going to be around 6th grade.

The thing is it will be brought up at your childs yearly check up with your doctor. They will discuss it. Because its not out of nowhere when a girl gets her period. Her pubic hair starts growing about 2 years before.

The difference is do these states seek to or forbid it from being discussed until a certain age?

While it should be the parents job to coach their child through these things, many adults are woefully, inadequately capable of giving good information, usually because they received little to none growing up.

Some societies literally lock their daughters in fucking sheds for a week when they get their (first) period.

This is a serious slide back and if we don't fight it tooth and nail, it will only lead to more pain and suffering.

Yes, some states may not openly discuss it until X grade but banning discussion is a whole other ball game.
