Chris' guide to scum hunting

1. Post until someone bothers me
2. Vote based off this
3. Ask others their thoughts on the thing you have a problem with
4. Do not unvote until that person has done something to remedy that first problem
5. repeat

Also if you are feeling lost try to find someone you trust and following one of their leads to see how it goes

Always try to remember how many town there should be. You usually have more friends than enemies so it is wise to assume you are talking to a friend until something says otherwise.

My biggest mistakes lately as town have been overestimating the complexity of play of players I didn't know. Trying to be too clever, basically. So I have simplified things a bit.

Also playing multiple games at once at very high skill levels. Chris you are a fucking idiot for that one.

As town you should tuck precious little away tbh. There are times to do that but in general if you have the thought shoot your shot.

It's like drawing the worst role in Mafia, but somehow it's worse.

Oh yeah you were absolutely cfwr and not pleased about it. But it's unlikely that any town would have ever expected that role, and if you had been lynched and flipped it would have given town absolutely zero concrete information about your mates.

Definitely a less fun role to play than a normal scum role, like you say, especially for people like you and Dumey who really like to talk. I think it speaks to your skills that you went from winning a game where you totally commanded the entire battlefield (xb3) to this one where you had to play as rogue solo scum. Seriously impressive.

Nah it would have totally explained why Lea knew he was town when he wasn't playing like he was town.

Sultan and Lea played masterfully after Chris fell on his sword for then. I don't think the game goes the same way if Chris stays alive for an extra day or two.

Han played extremely well for the shit situation he was in. I did feel bad having him cut off from everyone but he did a great job at leaving hints for his team, and while they teased the idea of a 4th member here and there, they never truly figured it out.

Lea had a flavor scan to find Thomas Riker, but she never used it after night 1 (finding The Doctor).

Town shot themselves in the foot.

Crescent instead of claiming her scan, fought with her Innocent scan all day 2 and ended up dying before she could fix that.

JC didn't do anything inherently wrong, but scum only had 1 player moving every night and they fake claimed Drunk and was believed.

Ctes, played great and is wonderful at mafia, he just made poor action decisions that did not help town in the end.

wallz is a delightful addition to the community.

Ben came in and solved the game but scum was able to navigate around it.

No, it was just having fun.
Fakeclaiming Masons is a meme and it was more celebrating our work in the previous game.

Something funny was when I claimed Riker and someone said "oh I wish you claimed Riker's transporter clone" and I was like... But I am!

I will say this, just for vindication's sake:

As Town, I would have not wanted to lynch Chris eod1.
As Town, I would have been talking over the actions and set-up as well.

The difference is I would have said 4 scum likely instead of sitting on 3 scum quite as much, but I was doing that because I had a Survivor claim in my back pocket that probably wouldn't have worked.

No she didn't but I did think it was weird that they defended each other that much. I couldn't figure out why it would be that bad if one of them died. I only think one of Lea's points about Han had value and it'd suddenly be explained.

Yeah alright, that was also my impression the whole game.

I didn't think you were scum for discussing setup it inself but rather what was missing in other departments. And yeah the 3 scum thing I didn't like.

When you said survivor, I thought you were dead lol, but JC probably didn't even get to it in time. I thought we were going into extra time with you and Ben up and was ready to argue that even if you truthful we probably wouldn't lose then so it was a free test.

Survivor was always a role I'd likely die in, but it allows my Scummates to not vote me.

I figured me dying crucified Dumey so... Tried my best.

This was entirely why I read you, Crescent, Lea, and BCT scum

I felt there should have been more hesitation to lynch Chris from uninformed players

But I was hesitant!

I didn't vote Chris until the literal last second. Isn't that the definition of hesitation?

I casually followed along for this one, I would not have guessed Lea, Sultan, and secret Han as the remaining scum at the end. Also Wallz was much better in his debut than I was lol.

Well if you learned anything from me, then you know you can be loudly wrong the entire game and still be considered town, so no need to be afraid of speaking up and just noting what you're thinking! Usually town is pretty good about asking clarifying questions and helping to try and understand you, unless you're being obstinate like BCT. Wallz played great because he was willing to engage in good faith and ask/answer questions the whole game. The one time he got a little rude with me, he stepped back and apologized and tried to engage honestly again after that.

I really didn't want Wallz lynched yet when it happened. I still blame JC and (scum) Sultan for that one. I was A-Okay giving him more time to figure things out.

Well I had Crescent over you for a reason. You it was more that I wasn't sure it was genuine hesitation combined with a lack thereof on the town lynch later.

Obviously the read wasn't foolproof as you were town. The solution ISNT to fake emotions with lynches to be clear that's why I'm saying it isn't advice, just that I understand why people thought you were.

Now with hindsight I see you got more confidence because you were right about Chris and it was all genuine. But yeah.

If I had one thing I could have done differently this game (aside from the obvious don't fall for Lea so hard), I wish I had fought Sheep's lynch more. I told Lea in neighbor chat that I was uncomfortable with the lynch after it happened, but I didn't speak up while it was going on.

I think my posts showed I was trying to look other directions, but the whole town seemed to not have an air of "anyone trying to redirect this lynch must be protecting a scum buddy" so I just decided to let town lead the lynch and not insert myself too hard. I wasn't in love with Han's reasons for going after Sheep because of a supposed perspective slip, and I don't think I eve really understood why other people were voting Sheep either, which is part of why I was asking Wallz the next day why he thought Sheep was lynched, to see if someone with a fresh perspective actually followed the reason why, but I pushed Wallz too hard into defending his OWN vote and he didn't understand that I wanted him to explain why Sheep got lynched in general.

So sorry Sheep, I should have trusted my gut more and fought for you, even if just a little.
