That's not quite how probability works. UConn probably has a better than 50/50 shot of winning the title because they're so much better than the other three teams.

yeah this confuses me a bit. I heard during the pre-round 1 sports shows that when it came to sleeper picks, Miami and Uconn were mentioned the most, and here they both are. But for some reason Uconn is already coronated while Miami is relegated to the likes of SDSU and FAU.

Miami is the worst team remaining according to most predictive ranking systems, plus they have to beat UConn (easily the best team left) to win the title. It makes perfect sense that their odds to win are so low.

I am sure the ratings for a Miami vs. FAU or SDSU will be abysmal.

NCAA will be rooting for UConn to win on saturday.

I could be wrong, but I think UConn's finals against Georgia Tech, Butler, and Kentucky didn't have good ratings either.

She single handily has me interested in the woman's side.

After the latest score update I probably still win with a Uconn title. I am still ahead of everyone else who picked Uconn to win and only 65 down from the leader.

The only caveat is if one of the 21 people ahead of me (or 3 other Uconners) has Uconn in the finals and also picked FAU to the finals I lose, but that seems extremely unlikely.

Dumb creighton would have made this all irrelevant. I would have won the entire bracket with Uconn simply making the finals. One more Uconn win gives me 64 points. I would lose by 1 if nobody ahead of me had Uconn/SDSU/FAU in the finals

What's the next lowest? Since that was the Covid shortened season and people might have lost some investment there.

Looks like UNC/Michigan State (much like Baylor/Gonzaga), but that game was over very early on, so a lot of people probably just stopped watching.

Yeah right, like people are ever invested in the regular season.

I never claimed otherwise, but even then it was different. People did not seem as excited about a potential undefeated champ because of it. Plus the Covid forfeiture was a pretty harsh reminder of the situation.

The game was also a huge blowout. Blowouts tend to have bad ratings because people stop watching early (the college football national title game this year had really low ratings, too).

The way people are basically treating this Final Four like a coronation for UConn (I feel like we've been here before), I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings for all 3 games are bad.

The ratings will be bad because none of these teams are popular outside of their local areas (if that). People want Cinderella up until the Final Four, and then they want the blue bloods.

See I'm the opposite, I have zero interest whatsoever in a final 4 with all blue bloods. I may actually tune into some of these games. I definitely wouldn't for a second otherwise.

I'm generally with you on that, but we're the exceptions, unfortunately.

These are people that probably don't watch much of the tournament before the Final Four, so it's probably not anyone here.

I usually love rooting for underdogs and ninth seed FAU would seem to fit that bill perfectly, but the team is just so boring to me for some reason, I cant even explain why, and I am just very apathetic to their run.

As a UNC fan, I gave zero fucks about the ratings that year. Best championship run in my lifetime

I'm in the same boat. I'd far rather see fresh blood / underdogs winning stuff in any sport over the teams that are always there.

Watching the NIT now since my team's playing that. Was great at first but we've completely fallen apart.

Oh, and I'm glad the F4 this year has some new blood, but I don't think I'm gonna watch much. I have other things to do and would say the same thing if we had the usual suspects.

They're part of the problem, yes.

I have no interest in watching a "tournament" that feels like it has a virtually predetermined outcome almost every year. You see a truly shocking upset that actually changes the landscape at all once every... 10 years maybe? Nothing kills my interest in a sport like lack of parity. If South Carolina is even slightly threatened in any way maybe I'll turn the end of that game on, but that's it.
