How are things different?
How are things the same?

What was like for you at the start of COVID?

Today, three years ago was my last day of work before lockdown took place. I was off the two days leading up to it. Was off till June, fully paid.

Y'know how around Halloween kids might throw toilet paper and eggs at a house? I'll see that the same way again.

3 years ago I was really depressed but working on trying to start working as a teacher again. I moved to Tacoma for a job, was going to the gym and working out/doing water areobics. I joined both a DnD group at the library and a table tennis club as well. I was socializing a bit.

Then Covid happened and I got bad pnuemonia. Ended up living in a basement for most of a year then moved with the previous owners (of the basement) to a home out on Steamboat Island which is 30 minutes away from town.

Needless to say I didn't get out much or socialize, at all really till the covid shots were available. I had some people live with me 2 winters ago now for 6 months, which was nice, but have not interacted with people much since then.

Now my car has a busted back window so I can't drive it when it rains/snows, and I have not gotten another covid shot in almost a year due to my reaction last time (I just avoid interacting with people instead). I am now completely and totally a hermit.

So yeah, my life was pretty bad 3 years ago, but I was trying and it had potential to get better. At this point I have enough medical crap (which I have not dealt with cause I don't go into town), have lost most of my eyesight and just have no energy/motivation/fucks to give.

Don't think I have another restart/get back on the horse in me at this point, just basically passing the time till eventually my medical crap kills me.

didn't affect me very much. the new work policies were annoying, but then i got used to them. then they removed them and other than the really stupid rules i actually kind of miss it.

Pretty much exactly the same now. My job never was affected and, now with Covid restrictions in my area dropped, my personal life has returned to normal.

Work in a slightly different department now.
The drama has increased while the retention rate has decreased at work.

I'm financially worse, but not by much. I'm probably better in most categories of life though except maybe my cholesterol.

I went home from work three years ago and more or less never went back to the building again. I still work in the same position but I've only been back to the office six or so times total (to grab a piece of equipment or hold a 1-hour meeting). Different world now for me.

Working from home is a good thing by and large...except that it tends to make the existential crises worse. And the 500-step days probably aren't good for me.

We went perma-work-from-home and got rid of our largest office. We still have office space but only go in maybe once a month, if that.

I still have a 30 minute commute from the bed to the desk though.

Try making walks more into what you enjoy, if it's not weather holding you back.
I like to read, my lady likes to listen to music and we both love having joints. I'm great at getting steps whereas she had to build habits.
You'll get there unless it's weather holding you back. I have very little advice in that category.

I got a few months off, and played some video games. It allowed me to apply for schools and I got a diploma. Ended up living with an old guy conspiracy theorist, but I learned to be a bit more comfortable with confrontation and I think we both grew from it.
