Are you trying to limit meat consumption? Or has your diet mostly remained the same?

https://www.koin.com/news/food/report-ranks-oregon-as-the-second-state-most-likely-to-go-vegan/

A new report shows which U.S. states are most likely to go vegan.

While the number of people who choose plant-based diets has spiked throughout the country, Oregon in particular seems to be a hot spot for vegans.

Oregonians had the highest vegan Google search interest across the U.S. and the second-highest number of vegan restaurants per person, the site said. All four categories culminate in an overall vegan score of 86.6 for the Beaver State, which also performs strongly in the vegan savings and meetups sections.

Hawaii was the only state to top Oregons score, with a total of 91.7 points out of 100. California, New York and Washington rounded out the top five.

Many Oregonians wont be surprised by their No. 2 ranking, considering their states overall push to be more eco-friendly.

Just within the past year, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality banned the sale of new gasoline-powered passenger vehicles in the state by 2035, Eugene prohibited gas hookups in new low-rise homes, and a Portland coffee shop won an award for making oat milk its default milk option.

On the other end of the spectrum, states including Wyoming, Arkansas and West Virginia were named the least likely to change to a plant-based diet.

I thin I'm a little surprised. But about the order. I would think #1 and #2 would be in the top 10, but not that high. And I thought California and New York would maybe be #1 and #2... But it's not too surprising, I guess...

Bacon is really good. Nothing better than a BLT loaded with crunchy bacon.

Lately I've been eating this vegan bacon. It's actually really good.

It's going to keep rising as more vegan based meat feels no different from regular meat

black bean burgers are good just not as filling. tried vegan sausage too in a burrito but hated the plant based chicken.

That's quite a bit of correlation messing with causation in that study. Their main factors were: vegan restaurants per capita, vegan meetups per capita, and price of vegan option vs price of meat per lb.

For restaurants, I can see there being 30 vegan joints across the state easily. Hawai'i is big on tourism, and I'm sure there are at least 20 spots in Waikiki alone.

You'd only need a mere 7 or 8 meetups across the state to top the second criteria, which is probably affected by the amount of older retirees that have moved out here over the past couple decades.

And one of their factors being vegan vs meat prices, while not factoring the popularity of stuff like poke, spam, and vienna sausage seen as staples by the locals...

I really wouldn't bet on Hawai'i going even moderately vegan anytime soon.

Trying to eat healthy in the first place, is difficult and expensive enough already.
