About 2 years ago I binged season 1-8 and about 5 eps of season 9 then dropped it. Decided to start again and I remember why. The show feels like an empty shell without Lana and Lex.
I'm on episode 7 or 8 now and I guess I'll finish the show in it's entirety but I have low expectations.

Sounds like its only 2 more seasons right?

I used to watch it as it aired, and I couldnt make it a few episodes into season 5. It definitely felt different and I just dropped it and never went back.

also sometimes watching something with low expectations can be a good thing.

Yeah, after season 7, the show just dropped massively in quality.

I wouldn't mind watching it again if it didn't suck so much and have so many "monster of the week" episodes. That aspect killed the show for me. Otherwise the show is absolutely fantastic, and I love the relation dynamic between Clark and Lex.

Decided to browse opinions on the TV broadcast boards and it looks like consensus among fans is they fucking hate Lana.
I guess I'm in the minority because I thought she was the best part of the show.

There's a pattern of people vehemently hating the female lead in these shows. I never hated Lana (or Felicity, or Iris) quite as much as other people, but I do understand where the Lana hate is coming from. Their relationship was dragged out for too long.

I need to finish my re-watch; I'm halfway through the final season. I love the show, but season five is definitely the point where the universe goes into Shit On Clark Kent mode (and it never fully leaves that mode for the rest of the series). His life just goes to hell in ways that would make a villain out of any other person.

What a slog. Can't wait to go back to the better show I was watching (Vampire Diaries)

The relationship dragging is just a symptom of the larger problem that she was very blatantly the writers' pet, worshiped by everyone in-universe, picking up absurd skills at the drop of the hat (huge LOL at having her learn to become a badass martial artist to coincide with Kristin Kreuk's Legend of Chun-Li movie), and even after introducing Lois Lane and establishing her as the new love interest, Lana has to get back together with Clark one last time, only to write her out as a love interest in the most convoluted manner possible, making it so the ONLY reason Clark ends up with Lois instead of Lana is because they physically can't be near each other.

Are they going to read the Season 11 comics? I think there are about 20 issues of Smallville that make up a canonical epilogue/continuation

The reason I remember being frustrated with the show was because the only interesting episodes would be the season premieres and finales.

And then everything in between was boring ass pointless filler

^Well by the very nature of the show, you can't expect every episode for ten years to be significant to the overall story. If you don't want to see his gradual growth from boy to Superman and you just want the bullet points, you might as well just read a synopsis.

Tis still my favorite superman series and one of my favorite shows.

It was a huge let down/drop in quality when Lex left, but I still was invested in the show enough to keep watching. Smallvilles Lex is my favorite intonation of that character by far. He is one of my favorite "villains" along with Daredevils Kingpin.

Two chars I never really liked that much on the show where Chloe (and not because of sex crap later, her smile always freaked me out a bit), and Lana (who at least I remember alot of people liking and my friend really liked her). Considering they are such a big part of the early seasons as well, it is amazing I liked it so much, but it wasn't so bad it made it unwatchable, just....cringy quite often (and I don't like cringy).

I have rewatched the whole series two times, and made it through when Lex leaves another 2 times. It's very hard to continue after that point and I don't know if I ever will again (or if I will ever re-watch it again due to my insane backlog of shows to watch.)

Still, very much loved that show and it is definately up there as far as superhero shows I have enjoyed, other than Supernatural I can't think of anything that has run as long that I enjoyed as much in the genre.

The only times I can think of when I didn't like Chloe were when she was investigating Clark for Lionel, and the whole Davis thing.

Her inquisitive nature often stirred up trouble and got her or others in bad situations, but it was heavily acknowledged and she got better about it.

I call it the cameran diaz effect tbh, so it's not just Chloe from smallville.

There is something about certain woman's smiles, that throw me off. They cross the line into evil somehow and just freak me out. Chloe had a smile like that. Cameran Diaz had it in Vanilla Sky, and I think that was the first time I really got freaked out by a smile, but it's happened a few times with actresses since then.

Smallville reunion and all we get is one memory clip from season 1 when he first met Lana.
None of the cast from older seasons was there and was pretty much teasing us SMH why even have a "Smallville reunion" then?

Lana can't be around Clark and is in Europe.
Season 1 clip is not Clark and Lana's first meeting, it's just the first day of HS.
Chloe is also on her own mission.
Pete didn't graduate from Smallville, there's no reason for him to return to a high school reunion.

The episode was about Clark's successes, more than the reunion.

Bugboy was rehabilitated (this was the key reunion attendee), Brainiac was a member of the Legion, and his relationship with Lois was working out in the future.
