...job, in your opinion? I have at least a few of 'em by my house , like within 2 miles. They're always hiring.

I am case worker, it sucks most days. I hate walking in. However when I get in there I feel better becuse I am helping people. On the outside that job sucks, but if you really want to help people it can make it so much better.

A CNA is just a certificate - but you'll be bathing people and wiping asses for a good portion of your shift for way less money than you deserve

I knew someone that worked assisted living and even those stories were pretty disgusting. I can't imagine a full blown nursing home being any better.

I applied at a company that told me at the interview that I would be wiping 10 asses a day. I left.

I did a lot of that stuff for my parents. I dont think I could do it for strangers, though.

Youll make between $14-18 a hour as a cna if the facility pays for the class. If its a long term facility your job will be to help lift people out of bed and mainly change their underwear every 2-3 hours or if youre on day shift twice a shift if youre lucky enough to have the time. Short staffing in those facilities is real. Overnights is pretty chill though. Youll bath people occasionally unless the facility has someone that does that specifically.

Assisted Living youre mostly walking people or using minimum effort to help them go to the bathroom so very little lifting. Youll be answering call lights to help the residents with their daily needs and is probably the easiest of all the types of nursing homes to work at.

Rehab youre like a mix or long term and assisted living where youll be dealing with either people that barely need your help or need your help with every little thing until theyre good enough to leave.

Hospice is end of life care so youll mainly be bathing and spending time with people who could be at the end stages of their life. This was the most rewarding of jobs for me personally.

Those are the main ones youll come across and a lot of them will have memory care units where you help people with dementia which the level of care depends on if youre in long term or assisted living.

The job is overall really easy unless youre in a long term facility which requires more hands on with the residents and lifting. Any other position without a degree at a nursing home wont pay very well. The great thing is if you do become a cna then after 6 months you can apply to work for an agency where you choose when and where you want to work and its basically traveling within local areas for $20-26 a hour.

The hours are usually 8-12 depending on the facility too. Its a job that is always in demand so more people should go for it if they need work and like helping people.
