I'm sure we all have at least one. Back in our pre-internet days it was pretty easy to stumble on a game and just fall in love with it. You'd have no idea if it was a commercial flop or whatever. We see some old games stick around in discussions or get remastered for a second chance. But most are just overall forgotten and no longer relevant.

For me those games were;

  • Speed Freaks (Speed Punks in the US) - PS1
  • Heart of Darkness - PS1
  • Deathrow - Xbox

Of course we also have games that deep down we knew were bad but we tried our best to play them anyway. For me those were;
  • Batman Forever - Sega Mega Drive
  • Simpsons Wrestling - PS1
  • WWF Raw 2 - Xbox
  • Shrek Fairytale Freakdown - Game Boy Color

Old game one called Renegade on NES, it was a Double Dragon clone, but I could beat it and I was young, so I played it a lot.

Spent a lot of time on games like Monster Rancher, those Strike helicopter games by EA, and played countless of hours of Chu Chu Rocket with my brother.

I've forgotten a few of the computer games I used to love playing but not getting very far in because I was too young to know what I was doing.

There was one I remember where you picked one of four kids to play as (who I think may have also doubled as the game's difficulty selection) and solve puzzles on a mad scientist's island to find treasures or some shit. Mostly remember that the art style was particularly ugly.

Another few games I remember fragments of were these hybrid point-and-click/parser that I think were part of a trilogy due to vague memories of playing on a three-pack version (though I might be getting it confused with DOS, where everything just looks the fucking same). I think they might have been based on exploring dream worlds? I dunno.

I used to have a crummy PC that had about a dozen or so DOS games, half of which I don't remember the names of.
What I do remember were:

Wolfenstein 3D
Stunts
Commander Keen trilogy + Commander Keen 4
The Incredible Machine
Street Rod 1 & 2

Okay with that last one I'll say the gameplay isn't very good, but it's still notable to me for being the first Yu-Gi-Oh video game I've owned. Also it's still an experience overall, I'll tell you that.

Loved those games!

The first thing that comes to mind for me is the "Strike" series - Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Urban Strike, etc. I had so much fine with these as a kid, but I never really see anyone else talk about them.

There was this weird fighting game on PC that I played a lot as a very young kid where you played as stuffed animals that could transform into killer robots. Im pretty sure it was called Battle Beasts. Thats like the only one I played a lot as a kid that I think is legit obscure today (that I remember). I looked it up a while ago and only found a couple of old reviews, no discussion.

EDIT: It was actually Battle Beast not Beasts.
