I can safely say that Dread is the better game

Never did Other M, Federation, Pinball, nor the remakes of 1 and 2.

If you ignore the cutscenes... Other M is rather good

Dread is a good classic Metroid experience. Prime was as good of an attempt as we were going to get at a 3D first person... that has platforming elements when you can't see your own feet or hitbox.

You should really try Zero Mission. It's excellent. As far as remakes of 2, AM2R is the best.

Only bone to pick with this ranking is Hunters not being at the bottom. Loved the multiplayer, found the single player to be a miserable experience. Prime 3 might've been too easy, but it was still fun. Hunters was a snooze.

I finished Dread but not Prime.

Prime gets a little too long and esoteric a little past the halfway mark. I couldn't believe how many fetch quests there were in the mid-game. Caused me to stop playing and not pick it back up (this was in the Wii U era when the Trilogy was on Wii U)

What's cool is that, in the original version (1.0, removed in 1.2) there is very little backtracking because of how much sequence breaking you can do.

Should I give Dread a second chance? Started it a year ago and played a few hours but never returned to it. Didn't really feel like I wanted to play it, but whatever bits I did play were enjoyable. Does it get better as the game progresses?

This is coming from someone who loves Metroid prime

I didn't like Dread that much, to be honest. I thought EMMIs were just frustrating. The boss battles were neat, though. If you didn't like the early portions of the game, I doubt the rest will change your mind.

My personal favorite game in the series, actually. Fusion is a close second, then Prime.

The problem with zero mission is that once you're able to get like half of the items in the game you're literally like 5 rooms away from the final boss (who is a fucking joke)

Prime remastered is not nearly as good as i remember it being. Can't believe I forgot about the random "find these 12 random things to fight the last boss" thing that bogs down the 3rd act.

Talking of bosses, they all go on for way too long without you ever being in any real danger at any time.

I beat Prime Remastered today (first time playing it) and you're not wrong
I enjoyed prime, but the 4 colors for enemies and doors gets annoying not to mention the chozo artifact cleanup at the end is a slog. Really brings down the pace of the game in that regard.

I beat Dread 3 times back to back to back.
I have no intention of replaying Prime right away.

Prime lacks the feeling of being super powered at endgame. The beams being 4 separate weapons instead of one super weapon, and no abilities like space jump or screw attack make backtracking a slog. And there is a LOT of backtracking.

Also Magmoor Caverns is like a straight line, wtf.

One thing that would have been for Prime, was a Power Beam powerup (maybe 2 levels) that just increase the damage of it
